I've never been one to go out and party just because it's a 3 day weekend, maybe it's because every generation of my family has served for the United States since the Revolutionary War.

It's a day for me to pay respects to my family and their friends they served with, personally - Not a day to get shithoused on a river. I do kinda get a little irritated with people that completely forget about the meaning and thank me for the years that I served. I didn't do much, certainly didn't get killed. Thank my grandfather that served in WW2, my great grandfather for his service in WW1, etc.

Fuuk you. Come back and start another thread when you are a veteran. Until then I'll consider you and all the other know-it-all pukes too ignorant to even speak with

You should watch your mouth when you are speaking to the people who paid your salary and still are paying for all of your current and future benefits.

My take on all of this. Pussificatuon has always existed. Technology (Facebook and whatnot) have allowed said pussies to not only join together but have given them a voice.

That and the fact that the military is now filled with women and minorities, 2 groups that love to bitch

There is a level of butthurt in a certain segment of the veteran population, I think most of us just want to get on with our lives...

it's been almost 8 years since I hung up my uniform and only wore my mess dress once since then...although I technically still work for the army, I'm about as far away from the line as you can get....

Another point I want to make is that you're not trying very hard to understand the situation if you are at all surprised that a seemingly large proportion of veterans are the kind of person to act the a-hole about something like stolen valor.

You mean the concept of "honor" is more important to people who volunteered to risk their lives in whatever battle their country put them in than it is to you and me, who chose not to participate? Shocking stuff.

Oh look, we've found another one.

You are hereby promoted to PFC in the SJW Army, soldier. Congratulations.

Oh, and your pitiful little attempt to pretend that it's only about "stolen valor" failed utterly.

Try again? Three for a quarter.

I'm a veteran and most of my friends are veterans and we never discuss shite like "stolen valor" or the true meaning of holidays. If we even discuss the military at all, it's normally just laughing at stupid shite that happened. Just like everyone else, there's a very small, very loud minority. It seems to mostly be young guys, fresh off a single enlistment.

What is the percentage of military veterans who see actual combat during their time in service?

I'm not saying that those who aren't directly involved in the fighting deserve less respect, but I had a friend who was in the Navy almost 4 years who did pretty much nothing but clean airplanes and get drunk in Dubai. His time in the Navy almost never comes up when we talk, but I'd be a lot more annoyed if he were to start complaining over something like this than someone who has been in a few firefights.

Yeah, cause military doesn't pay taxes and neither do veterans.
