Is your Cell # set up as the alternate contact number? Might be worth having that added.

No, my mom and sister's cell phones are listed as alternate numbers. Usually when I try calling them....I can get one of those three numbers. I did ask my dad if he wanted me to switch it out(online FEMA only lets you put so many numbers in) and he said no.

My dad called FEMA today to try and add my aunt and uncle's number just in case....he was told not to add too many contact numbers. I just wish they would call him....he's worrying himself sick now with it thinking that FEMA has called him and he missed it. I am checking the status online for him a couple times a day to calm him down and it doesn't even show a specific inspector assigned to him yet.

If it makes you feel better, we just got called and online it still doesn't show our inspection to be assigned to anyone.

That's good. Glad you finally got a call.

Anyone getting phone calls from inspectors on the weekend? Are they doing only inspections on weekdays? I think that's making my dad more anxious....tom being Friday and having to wait out the weekend before hearing anything else.

One thing that is odd, he didn't call my dad's cell phone, he called mine. I listed my number as an alternate and my dad's as primary. He just called back a second time to make sure we have a proof of occupancy and proof of ownership. He said a driver's license and a recent mortgage statement would work.

Just got the call. They're coming tomorrow. I can reiterate what toosleaux said. They asked for those. License needs to have that address on it. Thank God I changed my address three weeks ago

I was inspected today - 70785 - and I filed the Monday after. Guy said they have 2100 inspectors and 150k claims. Since Monday he's seeing less and less as people go back to work and yes, they do work the weekend. Some inspectors have been released for falsifying visits(saying they worked for 15 hrs, but only saw 2 properties). He says they merely take the data and load it up. FEMA's program kicks out the amount. The pics are to prove they were out there and to validate flooding(water line). He said he's had folks who had 1 or 2 inches and threw out appliances, furniture, etc. and explained to them that won't be replaced. Say they are told to tell people 7-10 days on turn around, but he's seeing 5-7 days. Also, he says the hotel he's staying in is only reserved till 9/8 and no plans have been passed on to him as to what happens after that.

Live in Denham Springs--70726. Got a call today from the inspector. Meeting set for tomorrow.

I'm a little concerned. I am a renter and am having the inspection for contents and rental assistance purposes. The owner of the home had flood insurance and was inspected by the insurance last week. He has already ripped everything out of the house. All that is left are the studs. The inspector for FEMA says he must take a pic of the water line in the house. Owner says the only place left it can be seen is on the metal in the fireplace. This is 6.5 foot of water and the metal is exposed because the dry wall has all been removed.

Anyone think this will be good enough?

Posted earlier this week:

- Timeline:
--- Saturday Aug 13th: I applied online for FEMA assistance
--- Wednesday Aug 17th: FEMA inspection (this was the first day I could even get to my home)
--- Thursday Aug 18th: Approval letter from FEMA detailing grant amount
--- Friday Aug 19th: Funds show up in my bank account
--- Saturday Aug 20th: 2nd FEMA inspection. 2 adjusters followed up to verify original findings

We got over $20k in assistance. And I'm going to appeal that to hopefully get more which was actually suggested by the follow-up adjusters.

The process was straight forward enough. She took room measurements. Picture of the water height. Counted things like receptacles underwater, telephones in the room, radios in the room, broken windows, doors. It was a checklist.

We have a 1650 sq ft home that took on 4 feet of water. The water was in the house for over 4 days, so we cut 8 feet of drywall. The A/C is broken and we'll need to replace the upstairs unit as well since they no longer make R22 units. The back wall moved off the slab because the builders failed to put anchor bolts in the bottom stud. I'm not sure what more could have been lost. So it's baffling that we didn't get the max. We are in flood zone X and did not have insurance.

Met with my inspector today. Took about 50 minutes. I'm a renter. He asked some questions about the contents and then took some pics and measurements of water levels in the house.

He did say that sometimes there are follow up inspections as 3% of workload must be checked. Said to not be taken in by scammers posing as inspectors. Simply as them over the phone for the FEMA case number. If they can give it, tell them you are reporting them to police and hang up.

Amazingly they probably saw the "4ft" and didn't take Inot account much more I would def imagine your scenario hitting the max.

The owner didn't take pics for his insurance? If he did, see if you can get copies.

So inspector just left. Peculiar little guy but nice enough.

He came, asked me where the water line was, took a picture, took measurements of the rooms, asked about how many doors, how many LF of cabinets got ruined. How many appliances. It was all measurements, of things. Didn't seem to matter how nice the original finish was to him just the quantity.

So he wrapped up with a bunch of questions like the following:

Did you lose a fan?
Did you lose a generator?
Did you loose a dehumidifier?
Etc.

I told him I didn't lose any of those items and he said I was the first all week that didnt lose all three....

He then said 10 days and we'll hear soemthing
