I can send you my guys #. Maybe you can trick him into thinking he was assigned their house and missed it?

Thank you, but I'm sure that's not the best way to go about it, tricking FEMA right off the bat

Some help: LINK /

Also, they can apply for a loan. Most probably, because of fixed income they will be turned down. At this point, they can apply for grants.
At any rate, don't give up.
Pay attentions to deadlines.

My friend had 33k deposited in his account by FEMA today and was told they will put a trailer in his yard ASAP.

They are still waiting to hear from FEMA about an inspection. Every day they wait is making my dad more and more anxious.

They were staying with my mom's sister and her husband. Now they will be staying at my dad's brother and his wife's house in DS(they were not affected). My aunt and uncle have another home in New Roads and will be staying there for the next month so my family will have their home all to themselves.

I just wish FEMA would hurry up. I've tentatively made plans with school and my work to move them to AZ the first week of November.

I am sure part of the stress right now is living with others, so at least, when they go to your aunt & uncle's, who will be in NR while they stay in DS, it will be less stressful for them.

Yeah that is what I'm thinking as well. My dad HATES being a burden on others. He is grateful that he has family to take him in, others are not so lucky and he realizes that. But he just hates how it makes him feel....he feels helpless and he doesn't want to annoy his family.

My oldest sister moved in with my youngest sister.

She heard this from FEMA today: "SAID IF YOU ARE STAYING WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY YOU DO NOT QUALIFY FOR FOOD STAMPS.".

I thought my oldest sister still had to eat no matter where she stayed. Why does my youngest sister have to foot the food bill for my oldest sister whereas if she stayed anywhere else she was eligible for food stamps?

Who from FEMA told her that though?

I mean...the food stamps are with DSNAP, not FEMA. I've already preregistered my family and told my dad what day he needs to go for EBR parish. Told him to expect a really long line and bring a camp chair to sit in(he cannot stand for long period of time due to being disabled) and some water and snacks.

DSNAP is reimbursed by FEMA, so they set the rules.

My youngest sister called a FEMA number and had a long chat with a "nice lady".

Tell me your secret so we can get DSNAP for my oldest sister.

Maybe FEMA's left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.....

See there has to be people staying with family that still gets it.

I mean...my dad is disabled and retired living off social security. My mom and siblings work minimum wage part time jobs that don't bring in much. My brother can't even work right now cause where he works at was heavily flooded. I mean...surely they should qualify for some kind of disaster food stamp help. I feel their situation is worth at least trying to see if they qualify. They aren't leeches on the government...just really poor.

No secret. Walk in with ID and list of people living at residence that was flooded along with their SS#'s. Must be an adult living at the damaged address who shows up. Be ready to describe the losses and estimate losses along with expenses so far plus expected expenses through Sep 8. Also income per month and whether or not your pay was impacted by the flood. Simple

Does he need all that if he was already preregistered and all that information in his profile?

DSNAP is state run--I'm sure FEMA has rules but this is a state program.

I preregistration and had to answer the questions about income and expenses. Already listed socials so didn't have to do that. But there will be a few questions. It was painless and they really tried to help

Maria, did your brother ever get in touch with you? You were saying a while back where he wouldn't respond.

If there is anything I can do, I am only a couple hours out of BR.
