My reaction was more to the whole thread of anti-cyclists.
I get that riding a bike in the South is seen as about as normal as playing soccer. Maybe worse.
But, along with being a spandex clad euro lover, I also lift, hunt, fish, drink beer, yell my lungs out at Tigers games, and ogle gorgeous women. I'm a dude just like the rest of y'all.
I just like to ride my bike to keep from weighing a metric ton like too many of my bayou brothers and sister.
Some of you gym rats ought to get out on a bike sometime, it's still as fun as it was when you were 12. You'd be surprised.

Full stop or very close to one, so I know what he/she is doing. Predictability assists motorists in not plowing a cyclist. I'm not in a big hurry. I'll give you the whole lane when I pass. Enjoy your ride. But, I do like to know what you'll do so I can plan to steer my 4500 lb vehicle around your 200 lb arse without having to test the laws of physics.

Amen. That's something I preach to new riders. BE PREDICTABLE. Both to drivers AND other cyclists.

They dont really bother me, except when they get in their packs on backroads in west feliciana and it becomes impossible to pass them. oh well, i just ride behind them.
now my father on the other hand, is gonna go all out to war with them. They have like this 100 mile race up there every year, rouge roubaix or something.
He lives way out in the country on a single lane paved road that is part of the end of the route. After picking up 3 garbage bags of empty water bottles the day after the race, he has had enough.
First of all, his tractor is going to have a flat next yr on that one lane road. Secondly, we are going to have a large skeet shoot and barbeque in his field that is 2' from this road, approx. 1/2 mile from where the tractor will have mechanical problems or a flat.
third, we will have a water table setup handing out cups of water, i mean vodka.

Thank you.....i was coming to post about this. It pisses the shite out of me when I'm in traffic and there is a cyclist who skips to the front at every red light. Which then causes all the cars to have to go around him in between every light.

Sometime I stop. Sometime I don't. Just depends if anyone is around. I do the same in my car. So do most people. Get over it and quit bitching.

Didn't start road riding until after I left LSU so I don't know much about that. It looks like it's only 17-18 miles, but if you guys are moving at 22+mph I'd never last.

He could try 10-15 gallons of hydraulic fluid in a sharp curve.

which makes the most sense IMO
I know you are all for cycling and being a part of the road and all. But I know of someone who died in this exact situation. Ran a stop sign and was hit by a car. I dont really care about your safety, but I dont want to be punished because you decided to do something stupid.
