Has anyone ever bought a new car out of state?

as opposed to Baton Rouge? I was looking in the Houston area and the prices were a few thousand cheaper.
Has anyone had any experience in having a local dealer match that price?
TIA

Nope, I don't think anyone has ever done that.

Yes. Bought my truck in Dallas.
They will tell you that the Houston dealership is lying just to get you in the door.

Probably wont match, it's different vehicle markets. I bought a truck in Dallas

Never had a local dealer match the price, so I made the short drive. Completely worth it. I've done this 4 times.

I bought a Jeep GC last year in Houston because it was about 5% lower than any dealer in BR. The BR dealer let me walk, saying they couldn't match the price because of the volume the Houston dealers do. It's a painless process. The only item you have pay twice for is the inspection.

Boss man just bought is F250 from somewhere in Mississippi all while sitting at his desk here in BR. Robinson Bros nor All Star would match the price or the trade in on his 2010 F250. They even delivered the truck to him and signed all papers here in the office.

Just make sure they get the sales tax right for your parish. When I bought my truck I had to cut a $2k check when I registered my truck back in LA because the Dallas dealership didn't charge enough taxes...

That's not even true. All you have to do is tell them you're an out of state buyer and to not to the TX inspection. At least, I've never had any issue getting that charge taken off. Some places may not budge on it I suppose, but I highly doubt any dealer would let a deal walk over <$40.

I had that feeling everyone would chime in that BTR dealers are unreasonable, I'm really "shocked" on that...

You're probably correct. I should have said "I" paid twice for the inspection. I didn't think about it until after I got it home.

I mean, they can only do so much. Volume plays a huge role in what kind of price a dealer can realistically give. Having said that, there are absolutely some unreasonable dealer sin BR. But that's true of everywhere I've ever been

but doesn't a make such as Ford, would give the same price to Houston as a BTR dealer?
seems that 50% of a sale is better than 100% of nothing.

There are incentives for volume. It's not that cut and dry.
Just take the 10 hours to go to Houston, save several thousand, and be happy.

If you're buying out of state, you might as well find a large volume dealer that you know a local can't match. I bought my Vette in Georgia from a place with around 50 on the lot. My local dealer had two that sat for a couple months. I know they weren't matching the deal. They said they might come down $1,500 or so, whereas I got around $6K off sticker. If I went to a dealer out of state that wasn't anything special, I'm sure if I looked around locally, someone would match.

Any problems getting it serviced locally if you buy a car out of state? I wouldn't think there would b issues, but I'm sort of curious.

Josh just bought a new truck from Georgia. Sounds like he had a great experience.

Seems like a pretty sleazy thing to do, like trick-or-treating in a rich neighborhood where you don't live. Best just to buy the truck in the place you live and avoid any moral ambiguity.
