Id recommend either Interstate Transmission on Gardere or AGCO Auto on Coursey. They are both great places. Personally Id go to Interstate but dont know where you are located. hell Bill had that shop back when my dad was at LSU (late 60's).

is it a 4 or a 6 cylinder?

If the 4, pull the solenoids off the top of the transmission and clean the filter screens. You can reach them easily, front passenger side, takes all of 15 minutes. I got almost 400K out of original tranny on a 2000 with a 4 cylinder with this trick.

if a 6 cylinder, hell if I know, but that code is electrical not mechanical.

This, and change your fluid with some honda fluid. You can put a filter on the return line that will help. Nearly burned mine up at 130k miles, wouldnt shift into 2nd. Did the above and got another 80 or 90k out of it. Soon as it would start slipping, the light would come on, clean solenoid screen, change fluid, work fine again.

There was a poster here who replaced/rebuilt transmissions for a living. I remeber a thread where if you told him make model year of your vehicle he would give you a estimate. Hopefully he'll jump in and give you some real #'s.

I took mine to Mike's transmissions on O'neal lane. They did a great job, but I heard a rumor that Mike is no longer there, but you'd have to go in and confirm. I know the shop is still there but may be under different mgmt. I know my neighbor has had several done there for his business and personal cars.

Edit" I searched old posts and found that Mike is working at Tabony Transmissions in Denham Springs. Someone else recommeded him.

My wife had a 2004 and Honda warrantied the repair even though it was out of warranty. This was years ago but it is worth a shot to take it to a Honda dealer and ask. It was the V6 and auto transmission. You'd be driving at lower speeds and it would act like it was in neutral. Didn't do it all the time but maybe once or twice a month. They replaced it with a used transmission and we just paid 10% of cost plus labor. It was less than $1,000. She drove it a few more years after that and then we got rid of it.
