They should give trophies to people from South Texas for this great achievement.

Ever been to a Hy-Vee? They're only in the Midwest, but definitely give HEB a run for their money.

Publix has some of the best subs i've ever had.

So overrated. I have never seen the fascination with their sandwiches. They are good but nothing to circle jerk about.

Central Market, on the other hand, has some bomb arse sandwiches.

The pastrami with roasted brussel sprouts and apple slaw is legit.

I don't go to HEB to buy whiskey, and I don't go to Spec's to buy bread.

Here, I can go to both close by. HEB is hands-down the best and even their store brands trump the national brands. The HEB I go to also carries many of the Central Market items, including a frozen gumbo base that is heard to beat.

There's also Brookshires, great too, but prices are higher.

Even despite the fact they aren't allowed (along with every other grocery in Texas) to sell booze, they are still the best out there

Maybe in Texas. But not in America. If you have to make more than one stop to get your groceries, it's not the best. Regardless of the reasons.

Well yeah. They don't sell whiskey. Why would you go there to buy it?

Well that's great - but I deliver straight to Houston to HEB.

You've obviously never been to Wegman's.

No, but next time I go back to Richmond, I'm going to check it out. I think I heard the Midlothian location has a bar.
I'm too young I think, to remember bars in grocery stores down here.

Nothing will beat a Publix Chicken Tender sub for me

Harris Teeter has some good subs too. Does HEB do subs? (I'm pretty much paleo so don't eat many sandwiches anyway)

The one I go to in the Woodlands, yes has deli subs for the lunch crowd.

Also, surprised this thread is still ongoing, it's H-E-B, case closed. If you buy the "brand name" product and the HEB product, in any case to compare side by side, the HEB product is not only significantly cheaper but better quality
