Been to many Rouses and many Publix... H-E-B is way better than both.

If you disagree, you've most likely never shopped at H-E-B.

Jitney Jungle RIP

Read carefully under the Family Dollar sign.

The last time I'd been to that spot before last month was early 1985 when it was a Jitney Jungle.

H-E-B, Ingles, and Publix are all worthy, IMO.

I've lived in multiple grocer territories across this great land... from Publix land to Kroger, Harris-Teeter to Rouses, and to the depths of places like Winn-Dixie.

H-E-B is the pinnacle of grocery store greatness. Nothing compares. I stand with OP.

We don't have them so they aren't the greatest in America, post fail. The people that can't shop at them think the local one is better.

I've lived in FL, NC, LA, and TX. Here's my opinion on the subject matter:

- Publix stores are very good grocery stores. Comparable to Krogers (that I'm familiar with).
- A good Rouses is a great grocery store. Better than any Publix I've been to (approx 20+ stores).
- But H-E-B is on a different level. My H-E-B (Grand Parkway and Fry Rd.) is a man's grocery store. I shouldn't be allowed to go there unsupervised!

Anyone else remember the "SCHWEGMANN'S IS COMING SOON TO THIS LOCATION" that was at the corner of Perkins and Bluebonnet for at least 10 years?

Familiar with Harris Teeters from NC and SC. Good stores. Comparable to Publix.

But H-E-B is easily better. No disrespect toward Harris Teeters. Fond memories of them.

Hate to agree but HEB can't even see Rouse's best effort to laugh at it.
...And the founding dude's name was Howard Butt. Used to do some Paul Harvey type shite about being a good human on the radio. The high calling of out daily work.
Good stuff.

Really? I've never been. What selection of liquor do they carry? Any high end stuff or just the usual whiskey?

I agree with the OP.

They should have kept the original store name of CC Butt Grocery, though
