Except I also have the advantage of having a Specs Liquor in the same parking lot. And if you know anything about Specs you'll know you just lost this argument

How does having Specs in close proximity have anything to do with how "great" a grocery store is.

That is like me saying Winn Dixie is the GOAT grocery store bc they have an awesome butcher next door, a great liquor store two doors down and and awesome farmers market in the same parking lot.

Spec's selection >>> any LA grocery store selection So... I guess a second stop is fine.

Again. Not sure y'all are getting it. We are not talking about how awesome specs is. The OP is saying HEB is awesome. How are you giving credit to the greatness of HEB by saying you have to go to another "awesome store" after?

Rouses and Breaux marks are good for La.

Publix is nice but i get wal marks vibes in there.

HEB GOAT

I actually loved going shopping with my mom when i was a kid because that place is so aesthetically pleasing. Also have fond memories of getting baked and walking aimlessly around the store.

The H-E-B stores on 1604 in San Antonio in Helotes and off 281 near 1604 in San Antonio are the two best grocery / all-in-one stores I have ever been to.

Familiar with Harris Teeters from NC and SC. Good stores. Comparable to Publix.

I'm in Greensboro, NC and go to the Harris Teeter in Friendly Center. I've heard it's the biggest and highest revenue HT in the country. It's probably the nicest grocery store I've been in. HUGE beer and wine section, good hot bars and sandwich dept for lunch.

But what makes a great grocery store to you guys? Availability of obscure brands, good butcher/meat dept, prices, cleanliness, beer/wine selection?

I'm not sure how to rate the stores...

Because

1) HEB should not be penalized because the Baptists that run Texas don't allow them to sell booze

2 Even despite the fact they aren't allowed (along with every other grocery in Texas) to sell booze, they are still the best out there.

Well, on Saturday, I'm making one stop to get my whiskey and meat to prepare for LSU baseball. Enjoy the extra stop. Don't forget to reply to this thread when you in line to buy liquor. I'll reply from my couch.

Typical LSU fan response

You know how I know you aren't in the logistics business? Because delivering freight to HEB stores SUCKS arse. They are horrible and slow. Glad you enjoy the end product.

HEB has all of that. That's the key. It's the best of every good grocery store quality combined.

Publix, Sprout's, ALDI, Costco, and our local farmers market. That's where I shop.

I grew up north of Houston, have lived in Florida and now am in DC, so I have been to HEB, Harris Teeter and Publix

I have never gotten a sandwich at HEB, but Publix has some of the best subs i've ever had.

HEB always has a huge HUGE meat area. However, I have never shopped there as an adult.

The Harris Teeter near me is great though. Has a chicken wing bar
