It's weird. I mean the girl is in an emotionally-freaked out, super-charged, vulnerable state ... and this is the time to guy decides to propose?

The guy obviousl--hey wait a sec, I just wrote "the girl is in an emotionally-freaked out, super-charged, vulnerable state"--which the normal state for women.

On second thought, I guess the guy did the right thing.

He sounds like a selfish a-hole, imo. An attention whore looking for social media approval.

She deserves better.

It's sweet, but dang he didn't even give her a few minutes to process being able to hear again.

Agree.

What a shitbag. Let her have her moment. He might as well just ask the question at someone else's wedding

Insert "reading her lips" joke here.

Some comments I read say he was being selfish by proposing then, that he overshadowed her moment of hearing with the proposal.

Not gonna lie.. I saw this video over the weekend and immediately thought the same thing.

More than likely she lost her hearing later in life(accident, medical condition, etc), so she already knew how to talk.

She would have had to, other wise what he said would have been nothing but random noise to her. A child deaf from birth that gets a implant and smiles at their parent's words for the first time is hearing nothing but a new interesting noise. It takes a long time to for them to learn to recognize speech, and what all the other sounds mean. Many adults have said if they had been unable to turn it off at will in the beginning they would have gone insane from the noise.

Some people are incredibly sad and hate their lives, so they try to downplay other people's happiness.

If you paid any attention you would have heard her say all she could hear was loud noise. She was reading lips. That's why the doctor was moving her mouth over the top like that and she had to motion for the girl to look over at her mom.

What? The girl was overcome with emotion and not even looking at her boyfriend. She was focused on this new freaking SENSE.. and she was communicating with her mother and her doctor.

Obviously it worked for her and she was fine with the time he chose. But I don't think it makes someone miserable to prefer their proposal be at a more "couple-centric" moment. I don't want someone stealing the limelight from a special occasion to make it about them/us. Same reason I hate New Year, Christmas, birthday, and valentine proposals.

So, like I said above...

If he is happy and she is happy, why on Earth would anyone try to complain about whine about it? I don't see a situation where a happy person does that, just don't see it.

You're way too serious. This isn't anyone we know. They aren't reading your internet comments about it. It is okay to state that you'd hate the proposal. Same way people critique the millions of other public proposal videos online.
