You wouldn't know even if you had that information.

That makes it less attractive, but it also seems like the watch needs to be cleaned so I would question the wear and tear on it... Just something about it doesn't catch my attention.

From my unexpert view, the bezel finish is discolored, the numbers/markings have yellowed a bit. Some people desire this aged finish.

It also lacks the magnifier above the date, which some people like and some don't. (but it comes stock with or without)

If I were in the market I'd just contact that guy to see what he wants...but I figured someone here would know. For someone born in 1969 that would make a great birth year watch.

I have no idea, that's why I asked.

They a birth year for me too, but it's not as cool as the one in the OP.

It looks like shite. Just put 200m there.

Or preferably don't put anything there, and put the WR rating on the case back.

I don't know how old it is

Could be anywhere from late 60's to about 1980.

Edit- Never mind. I see they have it listed as a 1969

It looks ok, but it's had some work.

Should be around $15k. At 31k they're nuts.

"Dark tropical dial" looks pretty damn black to me. These early subs can get faded to really cool hues of brown which looks awesome juxtaposed with the blue faded bezel, but why people freak out and pay 5x more for them is beyond me.

Here are three Red Subs recently sold by Hodinkee, whose prices aren't considered great:

Same Mark 2 dial: LINK half the price.

I think this one looks better than both of those, but that blue one is nice.

ETA: I see why people pay more.

I highly doubt you could. This site LINK is like TD but for replica watches. The people on there pretty much live and breathe the shite and they will take side by sides with real and fakes in the review areas and with certain sellers there are no differences at all. Most of the top sellers on there have thousands of reviews so you know what you are gonna get, it is a pretty cool site to play around on.

Around 50k - 100k

I think these were limited edition submariners built for the British Royal Navy. Only like 1000 were made

I recently looked at a watch that was designed based off one of these

Since this is a specialty it won't be as perfect as the more common ones but for $200-$300 it is pretty damn close:

FAKE

REAL

ETA: I don't think this is the real "noob" from the watch forum I posted earlier, this is just one I found in a quick google search, so I wouldn't buy it without researching more.
