Great places to live, work & raise a family

So I live in the metro BR area and have been considering moving. Better schools, quality of life, etc.
Just recently visited Dallas in hopes of taking the next steps. But, didn't feel good about it the whole time I was there. Not sure if the size of Dallas intimadated me or what.
Anyone else care to chime in on other locations to consider?

Did you try Fort Worth? Much better than Dallas

If I wanted to relocate, I would look to the state of Tennessee.
No state income tax. A chance to experience all four seasons of the weather. And it's beautiful when you get outside of Chattanooga, Knoxville or Nashville area.
I would give Memphis to Arkansas.

I'd move to Texas if the wife didn't have roots in Louisiana

My advice: go where there is a demand for what you do for a living. Job security is nice when raising a family.

Brother just moved to Chattanooga and is loving it. Particularly if you like the mountains and outdoor stuff but don't want to live actually in the mountains.

Dallas burbs have 2 cities in the top 5 in the country to raise a family (McKinney and Frisco) and the #1 place to live in the country under 500,000 population in McKinney.
If you cannot find anything you like in McKinney or Frisco , you will be hard pressed to be satisfied anywhere.

Texas is great, but if you can go anywhere you want, why not look at Colorado, Idaho, or something that isn't the same climate you've got now?
So many beautiful places in this country to choose from.

I'm sure they're nice communities. But, I'd have to travel into Dallas, which I hear is a brutal commute. Even compared to BR.
Plus, I don't like the Dallas vibe. At all.

What industry / type of work do you do? The wife? What about hobbies and interests?
I'd be looking at Colorado or North Carolina areas mainly due to my outdoor interests.

Rural Arkansas is the place you're looking for. Plenty of hunting, fishing and meth
