They overbook appointments and pile you in their waiting rooms. Then they blow past your appointment time as if you have zero value. They oughta be paying me for taking off of work just to sit here for over an hour.

Why don’t these folks schedule more reasonably? If they have “surgery” then don’t book appointments. Better yet, they should give a discount on the bill. Sheesh.

Because a-hole patients no show at an alarming rate which causes huge holes in the schedule and wasted time.

I just started taking a vacation day when it's time for my 6 month check up.

Just went last week, appointment was at 1 and didn't see doctor until 2:45.

Try going to an ob/gyn. Definition of unpredictable.

Sometimes there are emergencies for people other than you.

They at least have a legit reason. They could be called to the hospital at any time if one of their patients is about to deliver.

I agree; that’s really frustrating and inconsiderate. Maybe try scheduling appointments for earlier in the day so they’re less likely to be backed up?

Luckily my PCP usually takes me right on time for my annuals.

I had to switch doctors because the previous one would schedule me for a 7:15 Am appointment and it still took until 8:15 to see the doctor. How can I get the first appointment and still wait an hour?

Gotta love the waiting room move to the smaller waiting room and then to a room for vitals followed by the room the dr actually sees you in.

So the ones who show up have to pay for it with their time wasted?

No shows are money lost. So pile them in.

For this reason I like telehealth, also cuts down on visit time. but a lot of old fogies aren't down with it yet.

If there are people with appointments, and they can't see you because of "surgery", it was likely an emergency.

Generally you don't see legitimate doctors booking patients and surgery at the same time.

And if couldn't make the appointment and weren't able to reschedule at least 24 hours prior to your appointment they'd send your arse a bill.

Doctor's offices have no respect or common decency. I have gotten mad at a few doctors for being unacceptably late to our agreed upon appointment time.

I recently switched primary care docs. New doc I made a mid morning appt.

Showed up about 5 minutes early, they handed me the paperwork, I started it, they called me back to the back waiting room and collected my copay, I sat back down and started completing the paperwork, I got called to a room, started the paperwork again, nurse came in and actually asked me real questions, she left and I started on paperwork again....Doc comes in, takes about 5-8 minutes with me, goes over everything, does a physical exam...stepped in next room to take blood for labs. Had to sit in lobby to fill out the 5 minutes of paperwork that I never completed.

Called with lab stuff a couple days later and he went over a couple things.

Script was sent to correct pharmacy, everything was perfect.

Was there a total of about 15 minutes. I have never seen such efficiency in a Dr. office.

I charge my doctor a $100 no show fee if isn't in the exam room on time. No show fees are a two way street.
