Yeah he already said he works in a Mickey Mouse facility where the move rail cars by hooking a manlift and a chain to them...lol. I doubt PPE is very high on the list of priorities. Basically a safety man's nightmare.

Workman’s comp is guaranteed for on the job injury. However, that’s child’s play considering what you could get in addition to that for them failing to provide proper training and SOP for this task

Nope, not one. Been trained on the process, but nothing in writing or a sign off procedure. No hazard safety analysis, etc. Just go there and do it. Been there a year

Solid take. Post less. So, basically, I'm supposed to let the company get away with piss poor safety, that they know damn well, it's their fault? What a ridiculous thing to say.

It sure did feel super hot, even running for a solid 5 mins. Plus, I do know for a fact, they don't have a check off sheet, to see if it's operational.

Contact a lawyer who specializes in worker’s comp.

3rd degree burns are just an unfortunate consequence of making a profit for your company and profit should be priority number one.

Please say this at your next job interview and let us know how it goes.

No indication it was deemed "unsafe." We do have stop work authority.

Probably could pay more for safety if they the company weren’t being raped by the union fat cats.

And I’m sorry that I believe in personal responsibility for one’s own safety. Garbage like the Dept. of Labor and OSHA are an albatross around the neck of industry. Too much bloat and corruption by the federal government at the expense of corporate profits.

Sure, they'll just voluntarily cut their bottom line out of the goodness of their hearts.

Like others have said, get a lawyer OP. They company can and absolutely will frick you over in a heartbeat if they think they can get away with it.

Please tell me "counselor" how any of that gets him around the exclusive remedy portion of Comp laws.

There is zero point in pumping up the OP into expecting something outside of Comp from his employer. Hell, I even link the controlling case from his jurisdiction.

It is possible there is some third-party liability that definitely should be looked at but people continuing to suggest he is going to get anything more than Comp from his employer is just dead wrong.

Now my employer has a write up for me. Not signing and will have union steward with me. Probably grievance. How can i be disciplined on a task that has no SOP in place? Also, they conveniently "checked" the safety shower. Obviously it was pencil whipped for 6 months. Sign off plate was not on there when I pulled the lever.

Safety shower lined up to the cooling tower?! That seems like a terrible idea. The ph in those are monitored and adjusted all of time but it often varies and is susceptible to process contamination…. Just seems like a bad practice
