CEO Jeff Smiesk steps down. LINK

I don't fly UA that often, but it was well know that most of their FF's and employees didn't care much for Smiesk.

quote:

United Airlines chairman and chief executive Jeff Smisek and two other senior officials have resigned amid a federal corruption probe, the company said Tuesday, a major shake-up at the top of America’s third-largest airline.

quote:

The Chicago-based airline said the resignations were connected to an investigation exploring whether the airline had established a money-losing flight from Newark to Columbia, South Carolina, to benefit the influential former chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, who owned a nearby vacation home. The flight became known as the “chairman’s flight” inside United Airlines, according to various media reports.

This is great news. United blows and every time I have to fly with them, and he comes on my directTV screen before we take off, I want to smash it. They ruined a great airline in Continential.

A link between Chicago, New Jersey, and corruption? Can't possibly be true.

The new CEO was on the BoD for Continental for years. He was also on the UA BoD post merger so hopefully it isn't more of the same.

UA is regressing. You now have the option of taking a train from IAH to SFO or an ERJ145.

They already offer bus service so it wouldn't surprise me

They already offer train service via amtrak to ZFV (Philly 30th street station).

Someone on flyertalk was saying how all the employees at newark were in a great mood today, must've been a sight to see . I'll get to see how improved the morale is after the syracuse game with BUF-EWR-MSY.

Accidentally flew United once in the last 5 years because SATO convinced me I had no choice and then insisted they were as good as Lufthansa anyway.

Bad deal. Could have accumulated more Skyteam miles and been treated better.

And I still bitch about Delta all the time.

does everyone here think that as soon as a new CEO comes in, all the flights will be on time, 21 year old OT 8 flight attendants will serve free booze to everyone and FF miles will be given out like candy?

That dude just looked slimey. I hate UA and flying on it. At least my shitty flight won't start off with that shitty video of that douche and his phony smirk.

I always liked Jeff. I had an issue once with getting a flight bumped to a different time and losing first class for my booked award. I called United and received no help. However I read an article where he encouraged those with issues to email him directly. I did and had someone in Houston call me personally to let me know my flight had been rebooked as first class for the time I wanted. Couldn't have been happier.

I pretty much fly them exclusively since I always fly out of BTR and I'm always flying west. Continental was exponentially better than United and the FF program gets worse and worse every year.
