Golfers advice, 3 wood or hybrid?

Hello, I'm looking for a club to help me on par 5's (2nd shot) I currently have a taylormade driver and 4-pw iron sets. Do I need a 3 wood or a hybrid 3? Is there a difference? I am sort of new to the golf world so I'm a little lost. For an idea I'm looking at the TM rocketballz stage 2; 3 wood, the TM Aerobuner and the TM R15. Thanks in advance for you help!

This is the OT. 2nd shot on a par 5 should be a mid iron.

There should be about a 40 yard gap between a good 4-iron and a good 3-wood.
You need both.

Hybrids are for old men and little girls.
Get a 2 iron like a man

You should definitely have a 3-wood in the bag.
If you hit your long irons well, then you don't need a hybrid. Find a 5-wood instead.
If you don't hit your long irons well, then replace what you don't hit well with hybrids.
Oh, and if you're still hitting 3-woods and hybrids into par 5s on your 2nd shot, move up to the ladies tees.

Both, or replace the 3 hybrid with a 5 wood. Your choice. I carry a 3H (215-220yds) and a 3W (230-235 off the deck, 250 off tee). If your miss is a fade/slice, or you hit it low, I recommend the 3H. The guys I know that prefer a 5W over a 3H tend to hook as their miss, and their ball flight is pretty high already.

If you're not carrying a 3i you should get both as others have said. A 3W will have more distance but more roll. A hybrid will go higher and land softer. The hybrid may be easier to hit if you are new to golf

I just got a taylormade rescue 3 wood at Edwin watts for $30. Also got a rescue 3 hybrid off eBay for $25. Came in yesterday and looks like it's never been played.

Both. I use my 3W off the tee almost as much as my driver. My hybrid is a fantastic club. I'm considering taking my 3i out of my bag and carrying an extra wedge instead.

I have the SLDR 3 hybrid. It is ridiculously long and easy to hit, IMO.

A 3i and a 5 wood are generally speaking the same loft.
A 3 wood is less lifted than a 3i or 5w, meaning it goes farther. I personally like a 3w and 5w.

Most former pros on tv/radio carry a hybrid instead of a 3 iron, but you will need both a 3 wd and a hybrid equivalent to about a 3 iron ...

If you gotta ask????
An average hacker (like myself) should never be "green light" on a second shot par 5. You just need to advance the ball. So whatever gets you to that comfortable yardage is the club. I would slap a 2iron down the fairway with a punch shot all the time. I felt comfortable with the club and yardage wise I am only trying to get it to a short iron in my hand.

You need both clubs in your bag, and not just for par 5s. The 3 wood should be going further than your 3 hybrid
