Some day I hope to be good enough at golf to need a club between the 3 iron and 3 wood.

Right now I'm not carrying an iron longer than a 5. I have 3 Cleveland Mashie hybrids and I carry two of them on any given day depending on what course I'm playing. They are lofted 18°, 20.5° and 23°.

TaylorMade calls their hybrid clubs rescues. A hybrid and a rescue is the same thing.

I love a 2 iron for "rescues" from the trees. Haven't bagged one in years though.

I have a callaway 3 hybrid currently, but I'm debating on replacing it with a 2 or driving iron.

I use a 5 wood and have a lot of confidence in this club. I'v tried using a hybrid but prefer the 5 wood.

No 3 wood.

4 Wood (Tour Edge Exotics with Fujikura Speeder 757) Gets me about 215-220 carry with rollout about 220-230 on well struck shots.
5 wood (Tour Edge Exotics with Rifle flighted 6.0 soft stepped to 5.5) About 200-205 carry for me. Not much rollout just 2-3 yards.

I play blades.

I had them fitted for me when I was a much better golfer and played competitively, like a 3-4 handicap.

Now I'm like a 10-12 and they aren't easy. I'm getting better again though and they help me shape shots out of the trees

I played Sunday and turned a corner I think. The "feel" around the greens is the last thing I'm gonna get back and its so frustrating because I use to have a killer short game.

I do, too - similar story for me. I used to be much better than I am now, but because of career/life/geography, I don't get to play more than ten times per year or so these days. It is difficult to play forged clubs when you don't play a lot.

I carry a 4W (17 degree), a 3H (19 degree), and a 4I (24 degree). The 4W is probably a 250 - 255 club, the 3H a 230 - 235 club, and the 4I a 215 - 220 club. I carry a PW, GW, SW, and LW. I put the gap wedge in the bag because my distance between SW and PW is almost 40 yards, and I struggle to control that knock down 120 yard PW that is smack dab in between the SW and PW. I hit that shot four or five times per round, so it's definitely been worth the trade off.
