Remember, this Christmas, while you are eating your dinners and laughing, that in another house there is an empty chair where a hero should be sitting. They gave their life so that you can sit with your family. So light a candle this Christmas for our fallen heroes that did not make it back ...and for those still serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, or elsewhere.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to those that stood and are standing the watch overseas so that we can enjoy our friends and family this holiday season.

I don't mean to be a downer, but I feel it is very important to those that paid for the freedoms we enjoy with their lives, and the families they willingly left behind to fight for those freedoms.

Regardless of how you feel about our military involvement around the world, you should recognize the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters that are out there on the line.

I have been lucky enough to spend the last two Christmas' with my family and i am grateful, but the ones i spent overseas away from my loved ones were fulfilling as well.

May God Bless the American Service Member and their families.

TL;DR
Merry Christmas. Never Forget!

I was driving by Arlington cemetery this morning and almost got a little choked up. They had Christmas wreaths on each grave. So many headstones.

If you want to show appreciation for, and support service members, demand an overhaul to the military justice system and cancellation of the F35.

Even though I wish we were doing more when these folks come back from serving in active areas. For their physical and mental health.

I agree we need to show respect and admiration for our troops, but this line bothers me.

No one younger than 90 really fought for freedom, All the wars since 1950 have been purely political.
But the soldiers are not at all to blame for that, the idiots in charge are. Yes the troops deserve respect for fighting for our nation, but lets be more honest about the freedoms part.

Fighting to earn and fighting to keep. If there werent people out there on the lines everyday representing this country and what our values are, our values, may not be ours anymore. Just because you've earned it, doesn't mean you don't have to work to keep it.

Nothing we can do, it's history.
And being against it, doesn't change the fact that there are families that aren't together "for Jesus, brah" (total Catholic here, so I appreciate that) because for whatever reason, and knowing they could be sent away, still chose to go and are not home.

Y'all sure this isn't the Rant?

Can't we have one celebration that is just the celebration?

It seems that for every ______, we just have to be reminded about troops/veterans/casualities/fatalities.

I think that was previous point. In no way does it mean that people do not care. Think it was more of a discussion on oversaturation

I am a fairly new poster here but here was a great thread that was ruined by a few posters that just have to spout off their personal views.

Every person that has lost a military family member is saddened every damn holiday. An empty chair is just as sad 9n Christmas as it is on Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Veterans Day of freaking Tuesday.

I am not in 100% agreement with the wars we have been in and the reasons we were in them but I am thankful for those that did the fighting. I am also have the respect to either say something kind or shut the hell up.

If a person has the thoughtfulness to make a such a post then be respectful enough to either agree or say nothing. It really is not that hard.

Yes the F35 is expensive. Yes our leaders like to start wars we do not agree with. But that does not bring back our loved ones that died doing the dirty work. It really will not hurt to be thankful every day of the year.

Merry Christmas
