That is heartbreaking.

I am dealing with this. My ex-wife and the mother of my son was diagnosed with the early onset of the disease about a year and a half ago at the age of 60. My son is devastated as he is quite close to her.

He told me that he may take a leave of absence from his Ph.D. program at Johns Hopkins to spend time with her while she can still recognize him. I cannot tell you how my heart breaks for him and all affected by this disease.

Also hits close for me.

These are the two that always get my support.
CF has been making great strides with longevity, as you know.

Alzheimer's can present fairly early as it did in my Mom's case. Dr. Alzheimer first diagnosed it in a woman in her 40s.

I thought about you when I opened this thread.

You and your family are in my prayers.

I think Alzheimer's is one of the most difficult diseases for the family to deal with. I hope there is a cure or at least better treatment sometime in the near future.

I remember watching him on the Grammy's a couple years ago.

Alzheimer's is a cruel cruel thing.

I sincerely thank you for your kindness. I know, as one who has been through this, you know what it is like to deal with the disease.

That and ALS. I'd say ALS may be a bit more crueler because you're in a prison of your own body. Either way, both are horrible.

Sorry to hear about your father.

Yes, and that's awesome. But the everyday pain & suffering for CF victims along with the numerous hospital stays are still there. There are no winners in either of these 2 horrific diseases. How about a cure for both?

Agree x 1000.

My cousin, whom I loved dearly, has always been my guardian angel when I'm behind the wheel. It was our last conversation.

I know she's made me a better driver than I really am.

That song was really sad.

I'm ashamed to say that I'm not familiar with any of Glen Campbell's stuff. I'm not a country fan but I like some of the old stuff.

Generally, the older a person is when diagnosed, the slower the progression of the disease.

Certain medications, like Aricept, can help treat the symptoms. Start him on medication ASAP, if you haven't.

no, but he probably played on their albums, he was a studio maestro, played on all of the big star's albums in the day

In the 60s, Campbell was part of The Wrecking Crew, a group of studio musicians who played on some of the greatest albums coming out of L.A. at the time. Legendary bassist Carol Kaye was another TWC member.

As far as I know he is on meds... He lives in Mich and my family up there is supposed to monitor him as far as remembering to take them.

I feel bad for him and his family. My grandfather died this way.

That said, who keeps bumping these week-old threads?
