I remember meeting yall at an OTGT
quote:honestly, idk the exact name. It's provided by his company (they foot the bill) and I think it's just called a Masters in Oil and Gas. The university is in Scotland.
What does he want to get a masters in?

well for the engineering management degree I got all my engineering classes were done on campus but that management part was online writing all that BS paper after paper. FWIW I hate writing and reading

I hate writing as well. I'm dreading when I have to go back to school. But I have to get my BSN before 2020. Just waiting on my name to be called on the tuition reimbursement waiting list I'm on at work. Then I'll be doing the online school thing.

The nightmares last for so long. So. Long.

If it's his company asking him to go then it may be worth it, but I find masters in petroleum engineering not to be worth it in general.

I have, what looks to me, two 50+ year old guys in my Circuits class. Weird to be starting over at that point, but they are definitely in the class

This sounds like a great opportunity on many levels.

Anyone go back for a Master's in your mid 30's (or older)? When you were married with kids? If so any advice
My wife is doing this right now with an online program through LSU. She has tons of projects and reading to do for her classes which means many late nights. Hardest part i think is that after you are out of college and working for a while you realize how ridiculous and out of touch most college professors are with the real world. Not to mention how little of what you learn you actually use in the work place.

Especially if your kids do sports. I know that most programs like to get students with at least some real world experience but IMO, the best time to knock out the Masters is right after Undergrad when you are still in that studying/test taking mode. Preferably without kids.

13 months into 18 month EMBA with a working wife (No Pics) and 3 young kids. The EMBA schedule works great for me and my work is peaks and valleys so I can do a lot of the class work at work. Zero free time, but I see the light.

Where are you getting your emba from?
Posted on 1/21/14 at 12:30 pm to TexasTiger05
Currently doing it. 32 with a 5 yr old. Packed up the fam and moved to Mobile for PA school. It can be done. Just have to have a spouse who understands your upcoming time constraints. Fwiw, forbes named Masters in PA STUDIES #1 masters again this year!! 6 more months!

little younger, but the only thing that sucks about it is dealing with group work. Nerds that want to meet up 20 times to do a powerpoint project, most rationale people dont want to meet up to do group work, and with the file sharing sites and email, its very simple to collaborate while only talking during class times.
good luck
good luck

Does he have to go to lunches when other women are present without you? lulz

Actually, I wish I had. Now that I 'm semi-retired, I would like to do a little teaching. Most all university postings require masters.
