Anyone go back for a Master's in your mid 30's (or older)? When you were married with kids? If so any advice

I didn't do it but I there were older people in all of my classes. They seemed to do just fine. Were occasionally late for class more often than other students but that's about it. PhD would be harder, imo.

Prepare anus. If you have any free time, get ready to lose it.

Yes. Wasn't that big of a deal. I had a job at the time that allowed me to crack the books and laptop at work so that helped. I got my degree in my area of expertise so the instructors loved that I could put real world examples in my work. I graduated with a 4.0 and I was a lackluster undergrad. Just make sure the expense will translate to more $$ in your career to pay for the loans. It worked out for me. YMMV.

I got my degree with two kids and a wife and a full time job so, it's possible and it looks good on your resume if they know the circumstances you got your masters under. It shows dedication, ambition, and discipline. As far as if it's worth it regarding the money put in versus the return in salary, I don't know it depends on what you do I guess.

Getting a Master's isn't that difficult. I had more free time getting my Master's than undergrad degree. Make sure you get a good major professor and they'll work with you to make sure it goes well. They have a vested interest to see you succeed.

I took a year off from undergrad and going to grad school next year so I can't help on what it's like. With that said, when researching Master's programs and schools I noticed there were a few programs designed specifically for mid-career professionals, not undergrad students looking to continue their education right out of college.

eta: Most Master's programs are about 2 years, some I've seen you can knock out in one, so like the person mentioned before I can't imagine it consuming too much of your time.

I know many nurses that have done it, sure most of them went the online route for it.

Hope you like writing paper after paper after paper after paper(at least that is the case for nursing)

Once you get in the hang of reading journal articles and writing, it becomes pretty easy. I wrote at least a 30 page paper for most of my graduate classes.

Yeah I was a double major in History and International Studies in undergrad, it was nothing but reading and writing. Once you get in the rhythm it falls into place and it doesn't seem so overwhelming.

05 I have thought about it myself but cons outweigh the pros for me. will it help me advance? Will it put more $ in my pocket? NO with my company and I have been with my company for 15 years so although a master's sounds good not worth my time.
