It is indeed a stretch and based on poor logic, but oddly enough reminds me of some of the ridiculous things cops say.

Haven't the police accidentally shot bystanders and then charged people with assault because they said their actions caused it? The police went to the wrong house in a raid and threw a flash grenade in a toddler' crib, mangling his face. The police blamed everyone else but themselves and refused to even help with medical bills.

But yeah, Gary Chambers is a clown who will get support no matter how illogical his arguments are, because of race-based politics.
