FWB - does it ever work

ever had a successful FWB relationship? If so, how long did it last? I'm a firm believer in it never working out due to people developing feelings, but that may just be me. it's never worked for me.

it works if you limit it to one "encounter"

I'm not sure what FWB means so the only good thing about this post would be that sexy bitch in your avatar.

Eventually someone will get attached, IMO.

FWB's never work. Ever.

Unless both parties are incapable of developing feelings, it just doesn't work.

Generally the case. I am sure there are rare exceptions but I have found it's damn near impossible.

That is probably the case most of the time, but it could be the male that gets attached.

You bet it can. Happened to me, and ended up with someone toxic. We both ended up developing feelings. Most cases it was the women who did, but it can work in reverse.

I had one where I was starting to get attached. Distanced myself for a while, got over it and then we were cool again for a little while. then he got attached. Then it ended.

IMO, Anyone who has a single long time FWB, eventually fall for them. If you got more than one, and get with them interchangeably, it's harder for those feelings to develop for a single one of them.

re: FWB - does it ever work
been trying it w/ this chick for the last month or so - but she made a comment yesterday that makes me feel like she's developing feelings. normally she'd be a girl i would date, but I just got out of a relationship 2 months ago and I'm not looking for anything serious. thought it would work this time since she's in the same boat

For the most part one ends up with feelings for the other. I did have one that lasted off and on for over a year. The trick is to stay away from things like going to the movies or dinner, or even laying together and cuddling. That shite wont work. Try and spend the least amount of time possible with each other.

Going on 4 years.

It works. Mostly because we were both burned in our last relationships and we're not ready for anything serious.

Yes. I've had a few. As long as you follow the guidlines:

1) strictly sex
2) no nighttime meeting other than maybe some pregame drinking before sex
3) don't talk about your problems and don't be/make her be a shoulder to cry on

I've had them with girls that wante to date an girls that I wanted to date too. You just have to remind yourself & them that it's strictly FWB when it starts getting too much.

ALSO, people botch about the "friend zone". A lot of my FWB came from that. We would eat, have dinner, go on dates (movies or something) and just both know that we aren't emotionally attracted to each other.

Guess it all boils down to the couples dependent habits.

Fwiw I'm engaged to my former FWB. but to be fair, I never dated much. Every girl I saw post high school was nothing more than FWB. I think it's the way to go nowadays bc you don't feel trapped by dating for a long time and you get to pick an choose without having a chick in the way to explore. No passing up any potential candidates bc you're in a relationship.
