Maybe the owners of Sammy's and Willie's need to realize they're running establishments in a majority African American city.

TJ Ribs is nailing it right now. But the only a restaurant owner should care about is the color of green. And black. Just no red.

Sounds like a misunderstanding, then, that happens all the time in restaurants. Either she asked for grilled shrimp and the waitress assumed she wanted sautéed shrimp but didn't correct the customer when the order was placed OR the customer thought she ordered grilled shrimp but actually ordered sautéed shrimp. If she didn't eat it and said she ordered grilled shrimp, most restaurants would remove the plate and ask what else they could bring her. She pays for the food she eats.

I would never pay for food I didn't agree I ordered and I didn't eat. I find it a little weird so many automatically assume she should. But I left La 10 years ago and find I, not nearly as cynical as I used to be about people.

I work by Willie's and the parking lot is full every day for lunch. They are doing a lot of things right. Very popular spot

If she didn't eat any of the food, why should she have to pay for half of it? If she ate some of it, she should pay for half. It's pretty simple and I'm not sure why it needed to be recorded or even come to an argument. This isn't a race thing, it's a dumbass thing

Sounds very reasonable and customer friendly.

Re. her asking to see a policy, I feel like she has EVERY right if it affects her bill.

What if you go to pay and they say, "It is our policy that on Friday afternoons, if you have brown hair and are wearing a blue shirt, you pay triple."

08, you wouldn't ask, or demand to see said policy?

She made a comment on her FB page that she stopped eating once she realized how it was cooked. When that occurred, I don't know.

I can tell you that when I have had meal prepared incorrectly by a restaurant, I can tell immediately after one cut or bite.

Just because I ask doesn't mean she has to show me.

The reason she was recording it is because she was hoping for some racial controversy. This is the problem with the whole thing. I don't think anybody really cares about whatever issue was going on with her food. It is the fact that she started recording and talking about her rights.

If I owned a restaurant or bar in Baton Rouge I'd ban all video recording devices in my place of business. No use of cell phones and no pictures. You don't like it, carry your arse.

So they would refuse and you would pay? I'm not stupid and know what the deal here MAY BE, but if they are going to say something like that, they should be prepared to show it. I would have said to box up the food, take it and pay, or have a sit and we will prepare you what you ask...and you pay. OR, just have a nice day, and don't pay.

I didn't watch the video...

If she ate a significant portion of her meal before complaining, then she's on the hook for the bill. If it was one bite or less then Willies should own up to the "mistake" (the customer is always right) and offer her a new plate or take the food off the ticket.

I eat here quite a bit and I've never had an issue with the dining experience.

Well then stfu old fart

BTW, if I ate half the sandwich I would agree to pay for half. If I didn't touch it and they insisted I pay I'd tell her to kiss my arse or I'd pay with my AMEX and as soon as I walked out the restaurant I'd call AMEX and cancel/ dispute the charges

Based off what she posted in her initial statement, she mentioned the waitress said she would have to pay for 50% of the food she didn't eat. That tell me she ate a large portion before complaining.
