Does anybody know what happened to the organist that collapsed during mass over the holidays?

He is recovering.
He was put into an induced coma and brought out.

One of the things I was most worried about coming to LSU from out of state was losing the Catholic community I was accustomed to. Fr. Than's leadership at CTK and then Aloysius was an integral part of that welcoming to a new community.

Not entirely.
I know his sister. She used to work with me.
She was updating his status every few hours on FB.

Fr. Than was an incredible priest and wonderful man. There won't ever be another like him. He was honestly one of, if not, the most intelligent people I've ever been around, yet so humble.

This.

I can remember my late grandmother being so impressed with this. She had him over for Sunday dinner several times while he was pastor at St. Pat's, and I had the privilege of engaging with this kindly, amazing and holy man.

I saw him and spoke with him back in November, right around the time he was starting to relinquish some of his duties at St. Al's. He looked bad.

RIP. He will be missed.

So sad. Was a great man and looked forward to him doing the masses when I was at LSU. Great personality and even better person I'm sure.

I think I remember when he was assigned to Christ the King with Fr. Pat Mascarella. Sorry to learn of his passing.

Can anyone provide an update on the status of Fr. Pat? He was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition way back in the early 90's, so I'm sure he has had to step down and make a major change his living arrangements since then. ??

He used to walk the lakes with my landlord, a retired pharmcist. Fr. Than would say to him "you are blessed with the gift of sweat" because his skin type did not facilitate sweating, keeping him hot. I think of that every year when the heat is unbearable "at least I have the gift of sweat!"

He married my wife and I about 5 years ago. I didn't like the guy, personally.

I really enjoyed his masses at CKC in college. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by the BR community. No doubt he made it straight into Heaven no questions asked
