You raised your son "right". We have a family addition from second chance rescue, Alabama. Link below is for louisiana rescue organizations.

Please OP I am begging you to contact on of these rescue organizations. Please don't give the dog away on on of those FB pages. The pup obviously has a little Pit in him. Dog fighters use those pages to find bait and practice dogs for their fighters and the lives of those dogs is beyond horrific. It's a life of getting your arse kicked on a daily basis then killed by another dog or shot and left for dead somewhere. Please, please keep him off those free pages.

I contacted my friend on FB that specializes in pit rescue. She owns "Slinky's" on Chimes St

I rehomed my dog to a really nice lady and her two kids, who were beyond excited when they picked him up. I got a pic and good report when I checked on him several months later

If you have half a brain I think you can discern between a nice family and a member of a dog fighting ring

actually, i never got off my couch.

my son however did take him from some kids kicking him around in the park. which i think would classify as rescuing.

That was really great of your son to do that. Wish I could help, but I already have two dogs. Hope you can find someone to help.

Really good of you to follow-up on your dog - that was smart.

Actually those people are pretty crafty. The folks that do the fighting aren't the ones that show up to pick up the dog. It's not their FB page you're being directed to - it's usually a GF, aunt, cousin etc. 99% of the time it's a female.

There was a recently a dog fighting ring busted up in Georgia that was run by a couple of deputy sheriffs - you just never know.

I have nothing to add to this thread, other than to say this made me laugh way harder than it should have:

If you care about what happens to the dog, please don't advertise it on Craigslist or FB. Shelters workers here, who have seen the horrors, beg people to keep dogs off those sites, especially a pup that looks like a Pitt or boxer mix

Villa Lobos (the pit bulls and parole show people) is only about an hour from you. They'd probably go pick it up.
