Edenfield admitted taking part in a February 2014 incident during which a noose and a former Georgia state flag with the Confederate battle emblem were placed on an Ole Miss statue of James Meredith. Another man pleaded guilty last year to a similar misdemeanor.

The judge will sentence Edenfield July 21. He faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine, but the government is recommending probation.

That's more than you get for noosing real people in Mississippi.

So exactly what law did they violate here? I'm not saying what they did was right or defensible, I'm just wondering what actual, on the books law was broken.

Good, frick that UGA douche for thinking he could stroll onto our campus and stir up race relations with no repercussion.
And if you don't think that hanging a noose on a statue of a black man who had to fight his way into the University of Mississippi just 50 years ago is not meant to frighten black people and remind them of a time when they were persecuted in this very state, then get a fricking clue.

Don't know about MS but some states have laws specifically regarding tying a noose or displaying a noose to intimidate people.

Well then put every black lives matter pos in jail as well for what they've done to statues.

So I'd expect we'll be seeing indictments coming down for these crimes as well then.....
Posted on 3/24/16 at 1:24 pm to Darth_Vader
Certainly should, if they can find the guilty parties.
