and there are cop outs using mental illness for an excuse not to deal with issues that are in front of you.

I see where you're coming from about cop outs. But think about it. Ending your life is forever. It's not just trying to pass the buck, or garner attention. You are killing yourself. Don't you think there has to be something in the brain going on that has made darkness and hopelessness completely overwhelm you, to the point where your best option is death?

I could see thinking that about someone that constantly makes half assed attempts at suicide. But someone that does it has to have some type of mental issue, and that makes it such a sad ending.

The day I lose one of my brothers or my mother I will completely lose my shite...... This puts into perspective if I had ever metaphorically "pulled the trigger", how I would have impacted their lives. Knowing that makes me feel like I would have been selfish, but also knowing the dark depths of depression I realize that it is much more than selfishness at play and the amount of agony involved in the situation all the way around at play.

Vibes to you HC86. You've been hella strong through this from the far outside looking in. Boo is a BawsHog

My brother is really screwed up on meth and hasn't been seen in over 4 days. I know it's a real possibility that someday I'll get a phone call that he's killed himself. That drug has destroyed him.

Give me a heads up when I escape your daunted FZ

On the suicide part, its not selfish. Pain is immense. Suicide is therefore emotional, not logical.

Don't worry for your daughter. I'm sure she'll be okay and she has you there for her. I know plenty of people who worked with him at the same company. It's a great company to work for and they do a lot for their employees. He was going through a lot more than any of us knew about at the time, outside of work.

I won't go into specifics but my friend was in physical pain for years. As a father, I can't imagine making the decision to force my daughter to grow up without a father just so I can "be rid of" my personal physical pain. (and we're not talking about bedridden, debilitating pain either)

Oh man. I can't imagine as a child finding your dead father

(funnily but not really) I thought of my stepdad earlier in the where would you hide thread when someone said they'd hide in a deer stand on their dad's hunting land. My uncle took my niece shopping and gave his son's some of his stuff and the stuff he was saying to my aunt made her suspicious. Then no one could get in touch with him. She called the cops. He was living in Shreveport. A "man hunt" started. My stepdad found my uncle in Dubach in one of my family's many deer stands in their hundreds of acres of land

My stepdad was really fricked up from it. I can't even imagine being a kid and it's your dad

Just keep looking around Nola until you find her SS.

Tiger- she does the same type job at a different company. I know it is stressful but hopefully she will be ok.
