Spent the entire week there.

Had zero incidents.

To do what? Where'd they stay? What'd they do?

I remember thinking that after Nagin's turn at ruining the city. Turned out to be not very interesting at all.

Those that choose to spend their money elsewhere are just as responsible as the criminals for destroying New Orleans

we used to walk all over the place uptown at all hours of the day/night, I don't think I'd feel comfortable being outside at all at night anymore.

How long ago was this 'used to' ?

Dude, I am not one of those people.

I have been a huge champion of NOLA and live in Orleans Parish.

But it is what it is. This city is at its worst in my adult life. The 90s were awful but I still felt like tourists were safe.

Not the case anymore.

Only when the tourist dollars evaporate will politicians be forced to face harsh realities.

It makes a lot of sense. You can abandon New Orleans, or you can support it.

I'm talking about the comments in this thread. obviously there is nothing those 2 gentlemen could have done. although it seems there were people not far that saw the whole thing and could have done something, but chose not to.

More of my money goes to New Orleans than anywhere else. However, if it ever reaches the point where I don't think me or my family is safe, I have no qualms about saying sayonara. There's no ideal of a city that's worth my family's safety or worth "fighting" people (maybe figuratively, but certainly not literally) who clearly don't give a damn about such an ideal or me or my family's safety. Knock yourself out if you think otherwise.

I live in Orleans Parish. I work in Orleans Parish. I'm not moving. I actually pay taxes to the city in multiple ways. Do you?

I think tourist dollars evaporating is one way to effect change.
