This is the best place to buy bats as far as I'm concerned. They give solid reviews of any bat you look at. Good prices for good bats.

They also help you with height and weight and age related bat sizes. If you want a good bat with good pop at a decent price, check out the Rawlings Velo's. But if you want to spend some money, the Combat Maxum is one of the best on the market from my understand.

Rawlings

I wouldn't touch anything with a Rawlings logo except catchers equipment. Definitely not a glove or bat. Wilson for gloves. Many others for bats.

Maybe 5 years ago. Rawlings bats have gotten really good the past few years. UVA used them this past season at the CWS

the move to BBCOR took away 1 metric shite ton of pop

No shite, it really does lose 1 Metric shite Ton.

It is depressing to watch 8/9th graders be forced to swing BBCOR bats. Almost none have the strength and swing speed to make the ball pop off the bat.

chicken the only difference between the BBCOR bats is not the POP they all have the same pop.

some last longer than others

the big difference is the balance points on bats - go to a place like red stick that has demo bats try their demo bats

then see which one your boy likes...

As for losing pop...not to be worried about. His strength will develop and bat speed will come back. He just needs to hit the ball well. Base hits will fall and as he grows the distance will come.

you haven't been around kids going from trampoline bats to bbcor have you.....

many swings and hitting instructors corrupt kids using the trampoline bats... BBCOR is an eye opener if you think it has changed college ball it has really changed HS ball.

for BP yes....

most wood bats have more pop than BBCOR difference is the smaller sweet spot and of couse balance.

and my kid broke 2 wood bats in 5 days last year - that gets old FAST

O wise and powerful banner, my advice would be to go to a few highschool games and see what the kids that are smoking the ball are swinging.
