I don't think that woman is the kid's mom. Part of the verbal abuse that she was spewing, she said that the kid's mother had left him. I think that would mean that custody isn't an issue with her. I'm not sure what the father was trying to accomplish.

Damn that was hard to watch... Dad did right thing though. Even though that bitch deserved to get physically pummeled. Not laying hand on her showed more strength and fortitude than most people possess.
Plus, with his children being terrified of being beaten what message would he be seriously sending by beating her up..
Also, regardless if he would have been justified in beating her arse... A judge would have not been very nice to him
