I travel a good bit on I 20 through Alabama and in my observation the fastest to slowest drivers I typically see are as follows:
1. Louisiana
1a. Texas
3. Georgia
4. Alabama
5. Florida
6. NC/SC
7. Mississippi
8. New York (unaware that speed limits go higher than 55)
9. New Jersey (see NY)
10. any car that has a handicap plate

That New Jersey Turnpike should be renamed autobahn. That thing gets crazy

Pretty solid list tbh. Except New York and Texas should be swapped due to the Texas drivers who set cruise control and sit in the left hand lane.

nothing unscientific about this

Whenever I see an LA car out of state they're flying.

That's about right. Texas drivers seem faster when they're in their own state for some reason though.

Speed Limit is 70 but you have to do 85 to say alive.
Ohio, Cali, Fla and NC drivers all drive pretty fast. A lot of fast drivers around Chattanooga as well

I stereotype automobiles
Fast
1. Loud trucks with Republican stickers and someone pissing on something. Country baws on their way to get drunk.
2. Nice cars to decent cars with no stickers
3. College kids and high school kids
4. Businessmen and business women
Not fast
1. Freaking Yukon and Minivan soccer moms
or any parent with kids in general
2. Veteran and handicap stickers

another observation on texas drivers: when they switch lanes, they only do it halfway at first. they sort of cruise in the middle of both lanes as if they are deciding what to do. son of a bitch north mexicans.....

AZ and NV have pretty fast drivers. You hit those 50 mile long straightaways and haul arse.

The frick you say. They're notorious around Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan for being the slowest MFers on the road. It's one of the oldest states in America on average - they some slow pokes.
Illinois drivers are fast. North Carolina, Texas, and Michigan drivers also like to fly. California and Nevada drivers are swift. Nobody is as fast as New Jersey drivers, though.

Exactly, the Parkway as well. I have a company vehicle with a tracker and monthly get a notification of how much time I spent doing more than 75 mph, which is a lot since you need to keep up with everyone else. I've been doing 80 before and people pass you like you are going 20

Texas drivers are fast but a little bipolar. Either really fast or really slow.
Colorado has the slowest drivers

Los Angeles and Houston seemed to have the most balls-to-the-wall drivers without a load of wrecks. They are all hauling arse.

I've traveled the country, and agree this is a solid list.
It seems that every time I get stuck behind a slow line of traffic, it's a vehicle with an Ohio plate leading the parade.

I feel like people in Mississippi drive really fast.

Not bad... but damn, Texas has got to be the worst left lane slow driver problem of all them. It's weird, because they have signs that say left lane for passing only all over the damn place.
