They wouldn't be bringing their dog if they were coming to my house.

It has to be an Express, the maybe they’ll wise up and come to the realization that dogs shouldn’t be on furniture

We will need an in-game thread for when they make it to your house.

Yeah, frick that, people don’t need to travel with their dogs, definitely shouldn’t try to bring them into someone else’s home.

You know how this works... we must have pics of sister-in-law before we can give you an accurate answer.

your house your rules

That said 100% of dogs are better than 80% of all humans and that's being generous. If you don't like dogs chilling with you on the couch because of something as silly as dog hair I see you as an extremely miserable person.

Exactly. People know better than to bring their nasty arse dogs into my house. Let little rocky balboa defecate and urinate all over your house, chew everything up and destroy all the furniture but don't bring that into my house. He's not staying outside and yapping all night pissing me and the neighbors off either. Make accommodations for your nasty arse dog or just don't come.

Your wife needs to call her brother and tell him to get his wife in check. She should be able to tell him that his wife is acting like a child.

We board our dog anytime we are traveling to see family or friends. Sensible adults recognize that just by asking if a pet can be brought to someone's house, you are in affect imposing on them. Just like yourself, people don't want to cause a problem when asked but it makes it difficult to say no.

Make it her brother's problem to deal with.

My in-laws used to come visit and they'd bring their little dogs and put a fricking "pee pad" thing down on my floor for their dogs to shite on.

This was not cool. I really like them and they're great people, but this was something I didn't care for and politely mentioned it to them.

They understood and it wasn't really a thing. They didn't do it again.

The end.

I have three dogs and we don't allow them on the furniture. You brother and his wife can get a hotel room that allows pets if they so choose.

Look, I am a dog person. I have two, I spoil the shite out of them, but first of all.. If I go somewhere, I make sure they are cared for. If I were going spend some time at someone's house I wouldn't even consider bringing them unless that person said, without me even asking, "feel free to bring your dogs".

Everyone has different rules. It would be like if someone with kids coming stay at my house and they assume their kids will be allowed in my office area to play on my computer and just play around with my stuff.

If they wanted to use my ipad, if they asked, sure. But just because you do something a certain way at your house doesn't mean that's how others do it and you have to be respectful to other people's rules. Because I expect the same.

I'm assuming your wife is pushing for you to give in on this. Have you considered using this as leverage to PIIHB?

Not upset enough to pay for somewhere to stay. Tell her to deal with it.
