By "government/military guy," are you referring to the Obama campaign staffer?

Yeah it is a little early for all this nonsense. I just find it funny that you post on a public forum about public forums being harmful to our personal lives. If the government wants to track my every move fine, all it amounts to is me working to pay bills, some pornhub searches and random text messages to friends that are harmless. A rule in law enforcement is that if your not guilty then you have nothing to hide. So why worry if your not a terrorist. Cause I'm pretty Damn sure they aren't worried about some one who's got a couple traffic tickets, stole a candy bar, etc in this country.

Never had a social media account.
Never plan to have one.

Who cares what my family and I are doing? Who cares what other people are doing? Who cares if the government is tracking what people voluntarily post for others to read?

If you want it private, don’t tell anyone.

The government is mining data on you with or without Facebook.

Right, but this isn't the government, and campaign staffers aren't government workers. Campaigns are private organizations and the companies exploiting the data, like Cambridge Analytica, are private.

None of this equals a "government spy organization."

A little something called asset forfeiture would like to have a word with you.

I think this is the issue. You don't understand the difference between government actors and campaign workers.

It does if these private firms pass it along to the DNC to keep forever. If the DNC has it then any Democratic government official or organization such as the FBI and CIA have it. Not saying it’s nefarious but don’t be gullible.

I’m not sure if you’ve been reading the news lately regarding Facebook. It appears that Facebook has been harvesting everyone’s data for manipulation by third parties to exploit. It looks like it at least started in 2011 during Obama’s presidential campaign. That’s the earliest I’ve seen it being reported as in use.

It’s been told to me for many years from skeptical people that Facebook and other social media platforms are nothing more than intelligence gathering operations for the government and people trying to exert control over the masses. I think they could have been genuine in the beginning but have since been co-opted by the government.

Assuming this is true, would you delete your Facebook account or other social media accounts? Do this change how you post on those apps/platforms?

Additionally, knowing the government and other malicious actors can intrude your phone/tablet/computer/tv that has a camera and microphone installed, do you feel comfortable knowing that you’ll never know if someone is watching you through your electronic devices?

Also, all your searches on google and yahoo and the like are cached and catalogued and sold to third parties and provided to the government. If you are not comfortable with this, you should use DuckDuckGo.

Does anyone have any other reasonable solutions to avoid living in this constant surveillance state?

I suggest reviewing the TOS.

That's a hell of a reach. The DNC is a private corporation. The FBI and the CIA don't have blanket access to their stuff.

Sorry, but "here's an unsupported conspiracy theory, you're gullible if you don't believe it." This is the definition of tinfoil hat.

You realize what asset forfeiture is huh? I speak on that because I have some knowledge on it. The only reason that would come into play on every day random smucks like us is if we were drug dealers, traffickers, or part of some large criminal enterprise. Again if your not breaking the law in any capacity then why worry? The government won't take your shite from you if they can't link it to a criminal organization.

Queen Maxine was bragging back then about how Obama had a data grabbing machine like no one has ever seen, but sure, let's see tinfoil hat pictures.
