As best I can determine, it's harmless, and usually a sign of low blood pressure, but still a little disconcerting.

You may have sleep apnea. It's serious. Get a sleep study done asap.

Famous last words. Go to a doctor. That sounds like it could be dangerous. People die in their sleep all the time....

I'd lean towards this, you'll stop breathing and the lack of oxygen jolts your body back awake. Just try not breathing for as long you can, you'll likely experience something similar

Get a sleep study done. Odds are you need a CPAP.

This is probably it. I had sleep apnea and it would happen all the time when i woke up in the middle of the night. My heart would be racing and basically i would have to catch my breath. Got a mouth guard that pulls the lower jaw forward and havent had it happen one time since.

That used to happen to a good friend of mine. He got checked out and the doctors said it was just a side effect of his AIDS.

Make sure you are hydrated too. When I'm dehydrated I'll wake up with that pretty regularly. Alcohol can make it worse.

Get a sleep study done. Odds are you WILL GET a CPAP.

I don't think they deny anyone who actually does the study. They get big money from the insurance for that cheap plastic crap they give you.
CPAP works, Sleep Study is a scam but required.

Usually happens when you dream about murdering your mother or someone you're supposed to love. It's just guilt and other emotions, nothing to worry about physically.

Mine always seems to be related to eating a big meal. Heartburn or sodium or something. I usually take some pepto and things calm down pretty quickly. I've had my heart checked out, and the doctor said if pepto worked, it was probably just acid reflux hitting a nerve or something I don't quite remember. Whatever it was is benign.

Nocturnal panic usually triggered by a dream state. Nothing to lose sleep over
