500 yards. That's a lot of climbing. I think it would be pretty cool to do that. Its more scary to think about it than it is to probably actually do it, but I wonder how long it takes him to climb up?

I wonder if he has ever dropped the new bulb while changing it out.

Great money but high risk. Kinda like climbing a 200 foot scaffold.

1500' holy shite

250' whoops my arse and that's broken into sections with a small platform every 40'. This is just a straight 1500' climb.

The old KNOE tower (2,000' +/-) at Riverton had an elevator that ran up through its center. Don't think it went all the way to the top.

The reason I call it the old tower is because workers mistakenly loosened some guy fittings about 20 years ago and the thing fell to the ground. Didn't end well for a couple of them.

The hard hat is to protect him from poorly controlled drones filming him.

He could also hit his head on one of the bars as he climbs up.

And I thought going aloft on a Navy ship while out to sea was bad. Jesus Christ. That climb would be fricking exhausting, and looking down would be horrible.

He needs to invest in a parachute. It would be the quickest way to get down alive.

I imagine soon that there will be a drone capable of flying up and doing maintenance.

The hard hat isn't for a fall bro, it's for banging his head on a rung or metal beam

It's this guy apparently.

For a real pucker factor check out these guys on a 2200 foot stick that free climb,( which is allowed by OSHA) only tying off while they rest.

With proper safety gear, there have been very, very few tower crew fatalities compared to ordinary construction site work. Most of the fatalities were due to a failure of the structure itself or lifting equipment, not from the act of climbing up or down.

Looked like he was slouching around on company time after changing out the bulb.
I'm reporting this to his supervisor.
