I'm hoping and praying to get a call any day now to be one of Skillets pallbearers.

Too many times, but it was much harder to ask my fathers friends to be his pallbearers

I was honored to be a ceremonial pallbearer at a friend's burial at Arlington National Cemetery.

My stepdad was buried at Arlington last year. We were given casings from the blank bullets fired at the ceremony and had problems getting them through TSA on the plane ride back home.

It'll be a nice lunch time service. Maybe a potluck. The coffin will double as the head table.

I was trying to be all stoic the first time. It was my paw-paw's funeral. When we went to lift there was a flash of "Hey bitches, I can't lift this by myself!"

Then I kept crying.

The fact that you're trying to keep your composure while having all kinds of emotions running through definitely makes it interesting. It's like the exact opposite of the old "he ain't heavy he's my brother" cliche.

Too many times for too many good people. It is an honor to be asked and I've never refused when I've been asked.

Many times. I've buried a lot of family and friends. I hope my pallbearers outlive me.

Yes. One of my best friends.

The coffin wasn't heavy, and I sobbed.

I did it once for my brother in law that was killed. It was hard to be stoic when I had so many raw emotions going through me. Thankfully the cemetery staff helped put the coffin into the mausoleum because my brother and I were crying our eyes out.
