That's cool too. I did once for an old friend whose wife thought me as her other son. He still calls me "Sonny" every time he sees me.

Interesting how much that thought crosses my mind when thinking of my two grandmothers' funerals. It's a bit different than helping a couple buddies lift some random object and load it into a truck.

I was honored to be a ceremonial pallbearer at a friend's burial at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Old Guard did all of the real work.

Done it twice. First time was for one of my good friends when we were juniors in high school and the second was eight months later when my Grandma passed.

Twice. I was struggling to hold back tears and a massive, painful frog in my throat. I cry at funerals for people I don't even know, just from seeing grieving family members.

I was trying to be all stoic the first time. It was my paw-paw's funeral. When we went to lift there was a flash of "Hey bitches, I can't lift this by myself!"

Then I kept crying.
