I wouldn't say it would "freeze up", but yeah it would probably slow down until it knew it was safe to proceed. It's really just a few simple calculations for a computer to make this determination.

As someone else mentioned, Google's cars have driven over a million miles and predicting human behavior and intent, while it is a problem, doesn't seem to be an insurmountable one. We and our cars still have to abide by the laws of physics.

Full autonomy is easy, it's the transition from manual to autonomous driving that's the hard part. I think it will take a long time, but it will happen. But not so much because it's a hard technical problem, more because of the hard legal and political problems.

In his defense, he does run three very large companies, so I'm sure he's very busy. As for getting things done on time... a lot of the shite he does has never been done before. If you ask me, he gets almost everything done ahead of time. He sets very ambitious goals, and the dude seems to keep plugging until he accomplishes them. I would prefer he set tight schedules and be a little late than set long schedules and be a little early. The former gets more shite done.

A lot of people feel that way, but I've loved the stock since it was at $40. And I will probably continue loving it until the day they shut the doors. Apple made a whole lot of money pushing the envelope in a particular industry, and I think Tesla will do the same. It's clear, to me at least, that electric and autonomous vehicles are the future, and I think Musk will be the one leading the way for many years. I mean, look at what he wrote:

I should add a note here to explain why Tesla is deploying partial autonomy now, rather than waiting until some point in the future. The most important reason is that, when used correctly, it is already significantly safer than a person driving by themselves and it would therefore be morally reprehensible to delay release simply for fear of bad press or some mercantile calculation of legal liability.

He doesn't give two shits about the press or even legal trouble, he will continue to do what it takes to change the way we do things. You could argue that he doesn't care about making money and just wants to change the world regardless, and honestly that's my only worry about him and his companies. But it does take a lot of money to do what he wants to do, and I think he will do what it takes to make as much of it as he can.
