If you hypothetically repeated the 2016 but with the aqua dams present several thousand homes in South Baton Rouge around your area likely would have flooded.
On the EBR side I have a barn that took on water in the 1983 flood according to the previous owners. It did not flood in 2016 because the water went into Spanish lake, Had that not been the case the barn likely would have had 3-6 feet of water in it.
This gauge would be the one for you to follow,

I don't want to make predictions but I walked along Bayou fountain today and the water is low, 4 feet is normal. I'm not overly concerned as of the last forecast that water will get into the barn off this storm, but if we take the worse part of the storm and it dumps very fast and\or it stalls I guess its a possibility. The barn is at 17ft elevation which is near the elevation of your neighborhood.

Water went over the gauge. USGS was supposed to raise it but not sure if they did.

Does this seem about right?
Seems to me instead of keeping water “in the channel where the water’s from” it’s blocking what had been the natural flow of the water for thousands of years?
Also, with most of the blame frequently being placed on the ongoing raised developments contributing to the recent flood events (and rightfully so I imagine, but don’t know enough about that), wouldn’t Manchac Road also be a contributing factor preventing the natural flow of water to Spanish Lake as it’s practically a man-made levee?

Thanks for the info and I would appreciate any info/insight you may have through the next week. Gotta survive flash flooding this weekend and then backwater river flooding through Wed or Thursday it appears.
I think my street is around 18' elevation if I remember correctly, and I've got about a 2-3 foot rise to get up to my front door threshold.
Fingers crossed this system moves a little faster than expected.

Iberville will go bankrupt from all the litigation coming its way if they put in a temporary man made structure that floods thousands of homes in a neighboring Parish.

This ain’t the first time they’ve done this and I can assure you MO gives zero fricks. Despite what you may think, Iberville Parish is one of the wealthiest parishes in SLA.

Does anyone know if the parish dug out Manchac along that stretch? I seem to recall that being planned after 2016, but I don't know if it ever was.
Those aqua damns are about 3 feet tall I think. So in theory I guess it can't hold back anything more than 3 extra feet before it runs over into the swamp.

That’s the area. Not sure exactly where though. And yes the road is already a levee keeping Manchac from going into Spanish Lake and the swamp around it.
Bayou Manchac is kinda weird in that it is actually higher in the middle than it is near the Mississippi and the Amite. Its natural behavior was screwed up when it was cut off from the Mississippi. Ascension and Iberville have to use pumps to help water flow out sometimes.

His line may be pretty accurate. I know the dam will be placed near the structure on Alligator Bayou Road, but I don't know how long it runs or exactly how tall the aqua dam is that Iberville purchased. They make a lot of different sizes.

I’m definitely for government protecting its citizens from natural disasters. I’m not hoping anyone floods. I feel much better about Iberville Parish government protecting its citizens than Broome and her minions in EBR.
What’s trashy is people saying they are going to cut or shoot the dams which will be a crime and can be pursued civily if houses in Iberville are effected.
I’m not sure you’ve ever been in East Iberville but the people definitely aren’t trashy. Yes, there is one section of poor lower class people. Overall, the people will give you the shirt off their back and help their neighbor regardless of skin color or class.
I’m guessing you’re a Uclub wannabe upper class homeowner who pays exorbitant taxes for Mayor Broome to waste instead of protecting your property.
