Because they like that funding cushion and there is no impetus to collect a bill

Let the property tax fail and I promise you if it is really necessary, they will come up with the money.

No, they will just turn it over to Acadian and trust me, you don't want that. Livingston parish has Acadian and you're better off just driving yourself to the hospital versus waiting 20+ minutes for them to arrive.

Interesting idea, although politicians never suggest self reliance.

Do a Sales Tax. Unless the collected tax is direct deposited into my personal bank account, VOTE NO.

At the risk of stating the obvious, probably because they don’t bill enough to cover their entire operating cost.

I don’t claim to know exactly how EMS billing works, but I would guess there are times they show up without doing billable work. E.g. a 911 call comes in, they show up, and it turns out nobody is injured. On top of that I’m sure they have a ton of standby time considering the entire point of EMS is to be available when an emergency happens.

Of all the BS millages to be worried about, EMS is pretty low on my list.

They can come to your house and provide care and it’s free unless they take you somewhere.

How are you still falling for this government scam? They waste tax dollars on unnecessary things, then come to ignorant voters for more in the name of EMS, or teachers, or firefighters. The government already had plenty of money.

The government can't run anything efficiently enough to make money. They can not spend money and have a surplus. The product looks ok on the surface but is a mess behind the scenes. Brec.

80-90% of people transported aren’t paying the bill. The costs of running an ambulance service has gone up dramatically. Nobody wants to do it, ambulances that were costing $80k 10 years ago are now $300k before being supplied. Run volumes have gone up dramatically also with less people working in ems. Agencies are trying to raise pay to keep and hire and that still isn’t working. Supply costs for ems is insane

It’s ok. Times are great, there is low inflation, interest rates are low, housing prices are cheap, crime is low,our quality of life is excellent , etc . What’s a few more dollars compared against all that? I am more than happy to pay more to live in such a desirable city with such a high quality of life and such ridiculously good leadership.
