Glad it worked out, but TBH, it could have ended up as two casualties. The first thing you learn in any kind of water rescue training is going in yourself is a last resort, and it sounds like they had some other options, ie, rope, life preservers, etc. Still, good on him and the others.

BTW, this Pike guy has a hot wife.

Pants in water will weigh you down and sap your energy fast! He probably realized fast that they had to go or he'd be screwed.

I've been in a similar situation, but it was around Thanksgiving and the water was cold. All my energy was gone within two minutes treading water in jeans.
