Yep. one of my best friends works for a company that signs doctors up to be part of a VIP network and connect with patients that want VIP treatment.

Good doctors can do this. Its called capitalism.

Only profession that salaries have consistently gone down over the past decade is MDs.

Primary care docs work asses off for 150k now. Plus pay a nice 25k a year malpractice. It isnt worth it.

Anybody else have Matt as primary DR? I love the guy but his new policy starting Jan 1 is that you now must pay an additional monthly fee to become a "member" which comes out to about $120 a month. So in addition to normal healthcare premiums you now must pay to be a member to continue to see him.

I did. I made change to Dr. Carson in that group. Very easy and seamless.
AS for concierge model, I don't need to be able to text my Dr and spend 20 minutes with him instead of 4 min. It's good for people my parents' age but not me. .

Yea there are no hot chicks in that office on Perkins. But I did enjoy going to Dr. Matt for years.

Now, I DO go to my dentist for the eye-candy.

THIS. Don't hate on the guy for making a business decision. It would be like asking an OT Baw whether he wants to work straight nights and weekends at the plant or day shift with holidays and weekends off for the same pay.

The doc figures he can see less patients, give them better service and make the same salary using the VIP route. What would you choose?

Some of us have to go every 3 months or so for med refills and for annual physical/labs. That's why concierge is definitely not for me.

Minute clinic is awesome for when you need treatment for flu/cold/etc.

Yea. He's doing whats best for him, his family, and seeing fewer patients. He sat down and spent a solid 5 minutes explaining it to me. Then I got a follow up call from the office to answer any questions. I thought about it for a month before calling to ask if anyone in the office was sticking with the current plan. Then I switched.

I can't blame him at all. He's going to see far fewer patients(I think he said about 1/3 of current load) and still make Dr money. My poor arse is going to a new doc.

Doctors are doing this to allow them more time with patients because it inevitable shrinks the size of their practice.. They will not be taking medicaid patients if they currently take them.. You get appts and access with the fee.. Its beneficial for those that happen to be more prone to visiting the doctor other than an annual physical.

I thought everyone did this about 3 or 4 years ago?

For pharmacies, we can't do that. So it must be nice. Whatever the insurance gives you , that's it. If you try and charge a "service fee", you risk getting dropped from the network.

Get used to it. Unless the GOP does something drastic with regard to physician reimbursement schemes, your best private practice physicians will start going this route more and more.

I want VIP treatment but aside from my annual physical, I go 1-2 times a year if that, I dont see the sense in paying $120/mo for that unless you're a family with 5-6 members and you're assuming 1 is going to be sick often. Can doctors not treat patients better and just charge more when you need a visit. I saw someone mention that and it cracked me up, I was on vacation and got a really bad fever so I looked up a dr on my insurance website and he was willing to see me in 3 weeks lol no way anyone is that booked up, Id gladly pay an extra $100 for you to see me that day if you can squeeze me in, but $100/mo retainer seems silly for most.
