Don't get too excited about Uber

I'm in Austin and thought I'd give it a try. A 7.5 mile trip was $60. Not sure if it's that expensive everywhere but that's not gonna work for us BR drunks

If you sit in traffic, hit red lights etc the meter keeps running. It's not based solely on miles.

It says online its 1.50 starting fare with 1.90/mile and .30/minute.
I don't see how this could get up to 60 bucks

Sounds like you don't know how to use Uber. Just took UberX from SFO to the city and it was $30. Would've been at least $45-50 by cab and you still have to tip.

The ride prices depend on a few factors.
UberLux during high demand periods is not meant to compete with taxicabs. Unfair to compare the two services.

I rode from downtown Baltimore to BWI in an Uber Black in afternoon weekday traffic. About 30 minutes and it was $44. I fail to see how that meshes with your experience.
