I’m surprised Avegno’s husband hasn’t gotten more heat since he runs the Downtown Development District. It’s ridiculous that they’ve been running ads for two months to come visit a city that’s been shut down.

How do you think she got the job in the first place?

#2 Is this referring to me? Which Sonic?

Yes and I agree with you - and that’s what I’ve been saying - but now someone wants to meet me at Sonic??

I knew her 10-15 years ago. I really liked her. She was an outstanding ER physician. She would own that trauma room and was great on day to day basis.

And SUPER hot.

I actually looked her up randomly earlier this year to see what she was up to, and within a month or so later, she was widely known and hated on here. That surprised me

You hate to see it...

Avegno actually didn’t realize she wanted to be a doctor until later - she thought she could help people with her sociology degrees - but then realized she could help more people as a doctor

I don’t agree with the shutdowns, however, her heart is in the right place and she does work with ‘she who will not be bullied’ who is actually one of the biggest bullies of all

I don't agree with the shutdown non-sense either but as you said Jen is a really top-notch woman who is in a tough spot guiding this mental moron of a Mayor. Contrary to the OP's slanderous statements she is married with a daughter is not a lesbian. If I had a medical emergency I would feel comfortable with her handling it. The Mayor is the one calling the shots.

Y’all can come in this thread and take up for this loony a-hole all you want. That doesn’t change the fact that her overreacting, pandering bullshite has cost more people their livelihoods than have died from the virus in NOLA. Toya is relying on her recommendations to implement the stupid decimal phase plan.

Avegno has been the one with this “you’ll die if you don’t follow our rules” bullshite from the beginning. She has the “pick 7 people you’d be ok with dying” comment as well as her telling her ER friend he’d die if he went to a St. Patrick’s Day party. Not to mention the whole “protesting is ok but backyard bbq’s are dangerous” nonsense. She is just as big of a problem for this city as Toya. Maybe bigger.

She claimed that thousands protesting did not spread the virus at all.

I would qualify that statement as malicious and evil. She lied to keep us subordinates in check, while businesses are crumbling and people are suffering.

She strikes me as someone who only behaves emotionally, so this doesn't surprise me.

I'm impressed with your choice of terminology.

If there was a definition for the word Karen in a dictionary, that would be it.

There's something else here.

Doctors are insanely single-minded. And, they generally have terrible business sense.

This is why when you go to a doc with some sniffles, they want to run 63 tests on you, just in case. With no regard for how much the tests costs, the resources used up, etc.

To them, health isn't the most important factor, it's the only factor. The end.

Locking down will help slow the spread of the virus. This cannot be doubted. The docs (including Avegno) have absolutely no concern, care, or understanding of collateral damage, or opportunity costs.

If 5 citizens out of 350,000 had a disease, and it could be cured, and it would cost 50,000,000 per citizen to cure it, and they could get the city to pay for it, they would. Without doubt. Without regard to budgets or other financial problems it would bring.

Dr. Avengo is an intelligent, respected doctor. The attacks on this board are unnecessary and vile. However, her opinion, while important, should only be one of a group of opinions/views that should be considered when making city-wide decisions. It's that "group of opinions/views" that is missing here. Latoya, who I do believe is evil, is simply using Avegno here, Avegno is simply doing her job. It's not her fault that her boss isn't bringing in other opinions.

Ok. Now explain how/why she said thousands of unmasked people crammed in together screaming did not spread COVID at all. She tweeted it and repeatedly stated it.

Then 2 weeks later when cases went up she blamed it on everything except the protestors.

That's having an agenda.

Based on what? The things she is saying isn't much different from the things said by public health leaders in other places, including the CDC.

She's done the job expected of her. If people don't understand the context, that's not her fault.

In the vast majority of the protests pics I saw, close to 100 percent of the attendees were wearing a mask. So her comments are completely in line with the idea that wearing a mask allows you to gather closer together.

The problem I have is if we follow that line, then more businesses should re-open, the Saints can have fans, etc, provided people wear a mask. But that's not Avegno's call, that is the mayor's.

When the CFR was 7%, she said a party of 100 people is sentencing 7 people to death

That is absolutely bat shite insane

With the CFR at 2.5% now, it would be just as insane to say its sentencing 2.5 people to death

*yawn*

At the time Avegno gave the press conference - New Orleans’ death rate was 7% - the state as a whole was of course lower - which is why she gave those figures - it quickly dropped - it may have been inflated but those are the reported numbers

Holy shite you dont actually get why that statement was so damn dumb

The CFR is now 3% in louisiana. So do you think saying 3 people at the party will die is now correct?

Avegno, a freaking doctor, was not only assuming the case fatality rate was the infection fatality rate(which is unreal dumb in itself for a doctor), she was also assuming the virus had a spread rate of 100%
