KATC

I don’t know this family but good friends of mine are good friends with them.

The mother is in ICU and I could imagine that her three children may be buried before she’s discharged or even awake. As of now she doesn’t know that they died.

Drink driver going the wrong way on I49. One of the older daughters posted a gofund me account and detailed the story of the aftermath — the mother and 3 siblings were all in different hospitals, with one still at the scene and had to be extricated but was already deceased. I couldn’t imagine having to go to these hospitals to identify my siblings — the hospitals had no names so personal id was the only way.

Just awful and so unnecessary that these things happen.

Anyway with the holidays upon us, friends of TD.com please don’t drink and drive. If not for yourself, don’t do it for the harm that could come from it.

With Uber and Lyft there’s zero excuse.

Per the daughters account in the gofund me story, the driver was a homeless guy from I think Georgia (saw the Georgia info in one of the reports).

Should have saved his gas money for Uber for sure.

Tragic all the way around, and avoidable.

We were almost killed by a drunk driver 6 years ago.

I'm for severely stiffer penalties for those who drink and drive, as well as distracted drivers playing with their phones.

Unfortunately, you read countless times where the drunk driver survives the crash.

Drunk drivers should have stiffer penalties imposed on them. 1st DWI lose license for a year. Pay for someone to drive you to and from work. Second is permanent. If you can’t respect innocent lives lost because of neglect, frick you!

I agree, would add 30 days in jail for first offense. It's ridiculous that people drink and drive.

The daughter's boyfriend works the night shift at a restaurant near LSU. Was hit by a drunk driver last night on his way home. She ran the light off of Stumberg and totaled his car. She got out and was screaming at him because she believed she had a green light. Luckily the person behind her hung around and told the truth. His car is totaled and he's pretty banged up. I hope she was given a DWI. He was too upset to see if she got into trouble for being very drunk. (no photos of drunk chick or daughter)

If I remember correctly some European countries do this.

Absolutely jail time. That should be a given. That’s why I didn’t even mention it. 30 days is too lenient. Make it 3 months. Hopefully they lose their job and have to start from a shitty job to get back on track. Teach lessons and make examples. Anyone that thinks it’s wrong never had a loved one lost due to drunk driving or condones drunk driving.
