Or do they take an half hour of your pay each day?

My place has been ripping me off for thousands every year. And it's not like I leave the premises

No, but the past 3 days I have received very filling free lunches on their dime. I'm eating 2 ham sandwiches today and it sucks

I get a lunch break, which I am not compensated for. This has been the case everywhere I have worked.

Mine pays if I work through lunch, but I usually take my lunch.

If you are hourly and not working, why should you be paid?

nope, and as a side note they shouldn't

I know a business owner that got burned this way. He fired this girl who turned around and filed all types of complaints against his business.

They were all dismissed except that he couldn't prove that she was given a lunch break because he never had his employees clock-in/out. He didn't have to pay for her lunch, but he was under law mandated to give them one. Well, they awarded her a few thousand dollars because of this, even when other employees went on record saying that she and they all got off for lunch everyday.

You are supposed to have your employees clock in/out for lunch.

I get paid the same no matter if I take a long lunch, short lunch, or no lunch at all.

Do you work during your lunch break? Are you working now? Were you working an hour ago when you posted on this site? Were you working yesterday when you posted on this site.

You probably wouldn't want your employer to actually pay you only for time worked.

I don't understand. If you are hourly, how do you not realize you clock out for lunch. As salary, I get paid the same no matter what. Whether it's 80 hours a week or 10.

If I work through lunch, I leave an hour early

If I take a 30 minute lunch, I'll leave 30 minutes early.

Neither of those happen often and I usually end up staying a little late on a lot of days but that's how it basically works at my employer
