Obamas new law means anyone not making $47,500 a year will get paid overtime. This does not include me.

Yes, they pay my time for lunch and supper and pay for my breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, soft drinks and coffee plus wash my clothes and pay for my soap, I do supply my own shampoo though. Of course that's because I've been working offshore for the last year and a half or so and, technically, our client, not my employer is paying for those things.

Additional note, I am salaried but get paid straight time for any billable hours over 40, this has been the case for most of my career.

Yes, I work 830 to 430 and go to lunch on company time. When we have clients with us or if I'm on the road then lunch is paid for on the company card. I work in IT.

They aren't ripping you off, you aren't working so you don't get paid.

There is no law governing breaks. But i think most company's follow this.....breaks lasting from five to 20 minutes are considered part of the workday, for which employees must be paid.Employers do not have to pay for bona fide meal breaks, during which the employee is relieved of all duties for the purpose of eating a meal. An employee need not be allowed to leave the work site during a meal break, as long as the employee doesn’t have to do any work.
Fortunately I work for a company that pays you for lunch.

You are supposed to have your employees clock in/out for lunch.
We have over 200 hourly employees where I have been working for the last 14 years and not one time have any of them ever clocked in and out for lunch. They are all docked 30 minutes any time they work more than 5 hours in a day. But they are only docked once per shift. If they happen to work a double, they are only docked 30 minutes

I would assume that most salaried employees are exempt.

Most companies I would think don't pay salaried employees overtime.

That's the point. You get paid the same if you work 35 hours or 45 hours.

If you are always working overtime then maybe it's time you have a talk and request more money according to your work.

But with salary usually comes paid vacation. So really you can't bitch because you aren't getting time and a half.

You are compensated in other ways.

Bonuses, paid lunch, paid vacation.

In my experience hourly employees don't get those benefits, but they also get more time off when requested.
