Most bets are locked in at what you bought them for. Part of the contract of the bet is that they can't change the bet after it's been agreed

That's what I would assume. If so, how does it help them to move the line?

It gets more money bet on the lighter side, because they want the betting split as close to even as possible on most events.

In 2008, I believe UF went 12-1-1 ATS. Urban was absolute money while in Gainesville.

If you think Vegas is shooting for 50/50, you're basically arguing that Vegas has experts who dedicate their lives to this, algorithms, way more resources than the general public, but willy nilly decide that they don't think they can beat the public at this game. On what planet is that the most profitable play?

no kidding

just a little bit of critical thinking and we can safely conclude that it would be beyond silly to just aim for 50/50 money split

a calculated "risk" for them over time isnt technically a risk.

But at a different line.

So, too much money went on the favorite at -7 so they move it to 8 and now money goes on the underdog at +8. What happens if the final margin ends up being 7 or 8?

RLM is proof that Vegas plays sides on at least some games.

The spread you got when you placed the bet is locked in for your. Just wanted to clear that up because you've asked a few times without an answer.

Thanks. I assumed that had to be the case because I couldn't imagine anyone betting on a game where they could have their bet changed to a different line after they placed the bet.

They would rather have an uneven line that gets a shite ton of action than a perfectly even line that has just average action.
