Does the asparagus - coke thing really work for passing kidney stones?

I have a fricken 8mm stone lodged in my distal ureter. Ultrasonic shock wave treatment did not work. Have a ureteroscopy procedure scheduled on Tuesday. Thinking about trying this "internet treatment " for shits and giggles. Anybody do this with success? How do I make the asparagus emulsion taste good?

Sounds like a waste of time. You are better off drinking liquor to ease the pain. Stones hurt bad. Either way...Good luck!

Never heard of that but it sounds like bullshite.

An 8mm stone is too big to pass by yourself. I would imagine they're gonna have to go in and get it out for you.

That's the plan, to go in and get it out on Tuesday. I have read about the Coke and asparagus treatment on the Internet. Some people swear by it, other say it's a bunch of bull. I have nothing to lose, probably going to give it a shot this afternoon or in the morning

What is it supposed to do?

If there was some surefire way to readily get rid of stones like this, it would be well known.

And if it was true, I'm driving to my urologists office and punching him in the face

I am taking flomax now. That big 8mm SOB is stuck in my ureter right above my bladder. X-ray shows it still there after ultrasonic shockwave treatment.

This combines a lot of what others have said with a few additions- Drink a beer, then a glass of water, and keep alternating them like that.
Use the bath as hot as you can stand it every 3-4 hours. Hot shower isn't bad either - and can help you go.

The flow max or a similar product is good. Would also try to get a urinary analgesic like Uribel or Azo.

Just FYI - if they go get it, they will leave a tube in you that's no fun getting out.

God bless you.
I had my first kidney stone in January. Thought I was dying.
Sprite, 7up, and gallons of water.
Passed mine pretty easily.

Don't know if that will work or not. Had my first stone in february a 7mm. Lithotripsey (sp) did not work so I also had to have a ureteroscopy. Never did pass anything but my urologist said a 7mm would be absolute hell to pass so I can imagine an 8mm is as bad or worse. Just try to stay comfortable until tuesday and then all will be better.

To my knowledge, greater than 5mm and they won't let you pass it on your own

I have several 2mm -3mm ones and I've passed 2 within the last year and those little bastards hurt like hell. I can't imagine an 8mm making its way.

I think anything over 6 is operable but other than trying to flush it out by drinking lots of water and trying to ease the pain there is no magic bullet.

Here's the thing, I am not in any pain right now. The only pain that I had was when it with migrating from my kidney down through my ureter. Now that it is stuck right above the bladder, I don't have any pain. And for that, I am grateful.

I am just wondering if I could get that astroid into my bladder, if I could pee it out from there? I have plenty of Lortab that the doctor prescribed for me!

I see no way it can hurt. What the hell. Throw in some apple cider vinegar.

8mm though I doubt it.

Start drinking the shite out of water now. So you can flush that blood out after your procedure. Prepare thyself for stent removal after a week of 10 days. It was all the pain of passing a stone condensed in 1-2 seconds. I levitated off the table I think.

When I do coke I don't want to eat. I definitely wouldn't want to eat asparagus.
